How are you guys finding the build date of your trucks?  My GMC vin number is 1GTP9EEL5KZ169xxx.  Thanks.

Check between driver's door and passenger door almost by passenger hindge. Mine is farther back than expected. 

 

I also got the build sheet from the dealer with all the codes and it says 11/28/18 for build date. My door sticker says 11/18.

Is there any way to find the build date based on VIN? I'd like to know when negotiating with a dealer what the build date is before contacting them.

Ok, I apologize, you guys are correct!  There is a tag way down low that does have the date on it.  It is as described, between the driver's door and the rear door.  Mine is below the bottom hinge.  Thank you!

Don’t think there is, but if you email them today I would almost guarantee you’d get the sheet by tomorrow. They are very quick. I emailed them on a weekend and they got right back to me.

If you have access to the truck, the other way is to snap a shot of the QR code on the door post sticker (replaces the old service part code sticker that used to be in glove box).

 

There are many smartphone apps that can be used to display the information in the QR code.
