Well. I have the package and the camera on my 2020 NHT SLT.  I have a buddy with a 2020 Denali 3/4-ton that has the connection as well - but since his has the 360* cameras, his didn’t come with the separate cam.

I will go see him tomorrow and take my cam and we will just try it out.

Ok. No real news. Took cam - neither truck recognized it.  It looks like it has to be set up on top of the trailer or camper. There are instructions to set it up in the center of the camper/trailer and to ensure the lens is angled at 35*.  Makes sense since it’s supposed to “see through” the trailer.

Tried connecting his trailer thinking it may need to see a trailer there with the light hookup and even created a profile for the trailer. Nope. Tried both cam inputs. Left and right. Nope. That I thought for sure would work because one was supposed to be inside the trailer.

It was sleeting and freezing rain on us for the appx 45 minutes we were messing with it. I’ll just wait and install it on the camper and do it right. Once it’s hooked up and working - we will try his truck out on it.

Sorry!

As soon as you plug in the camera it should show up on your screen.  It may not show up in the "see-thru" mode but you will see something.  So I would check that out first.  I hate to see you go to all of the work installing it on the trailer and it still does not work.

When I did this (I have a 19)  I found that you had to really secure the camera cable to the bumper plug.  When I initially did it I didn't have a picture.  I had to go to the back side of the bumper and push both cables together.

Ok - I didn’t do all that - but the truck did recognize something was hooked up. I tried to view and it only showed the view from the tailgate cam, not both. I still had the aux coiled up and it was resting on the tongue of the flatbed trailer.

Had it not been nasty weather - I would have been more determined to get it going.  Next “decent” day I’ll give it another shot.

Thx for reply about your experience. Owners manual is less than helpful at this point.

Ok. It works. On mine - haven’t had him come over and hook up to it yet.  I did install of cam on camper - followed instructions - and another person’s recommendation on connections.

As I didn’t want to remove existing camera mount (mount only - no cam) which was wider and would have shown holes or had me patch and match - I mounted cam base above existing.

Once it was centered and aligned - I temporarily ran cable to back of truck.

Had truck off. Completely “dead”.  No ticking, clicking or noises. Connected camper wiring. Connected camera to right side plug above camper plug.

Started truck - set up camper profile to include tire pressure settings (had them already installed from my 19).  Checked rear of trailer camera view from home screen and it worked.  Still does not work from in the trailering app on truck. Can see the icon for both the cam on rear of trailer or one for inside trailer (which I don’t have). Push one for rear of trailer and is tells me to connect it.

Oh well. I can see it fine from selecting cameras from the home screen.

Maybe tomorrow I’ll have my buddy come over with his 2020 3/4 ton Denali with the technology package and give it a try.

(I have not yet moved camper to test how long you’re able to view while I’m going down highway).

Mine is similar to yours, but dealer did not add PTT to the build sheet. I got an older set of 4 from ebay for $25. As long as they are 433mhz, they should work.

Optional (and not available on base sierra)

PTT         Trailer Tire Pressure Monitor Sensors, includes set of 4 sensors. Sensor functionality requires (U1D) In-vehicle Trailering App to be ordered with the vehicle and installed by the factory. Sensors will be shipped loose with the truck and will need to be installed on trailer by customer. System is capable of monitoring up to 6 wheels. Additional or replacement sensors are available through GM Accessories
1 - Requires (ZL6) ProGrade Trailering System or (PDQ) Preferred Package.

Any update on this? Have u connected them to the truck and do they show both heat and temperature also?

Also interesting... I pulled out one morning with a side of my trailer that had been in the sun... I got a warning that one of the tires was much hotter than the other three a few miles down the road. Seems like a super useful thing to have.

My camera wires were connected to that blue plug before they were connected behind the bumper.  I had only one connected and connected the other myself, now I just need a camera. There are two of those blue plugs connected to nothing behind my bumper.  what is your plug connected to?

This is the harness that is in the headliner that runs from the rear view mirror to the camera in the third brake light. I bought this harness to see what connectors it had on it. I have installed a cap on the truck, so now that camera is blocked. I was going to try to make an ‘extension cord’ to extend that camera and install it on the back of the cap. If the camera that mounts on the back of the trailer has the same plug, I could buy that which has 30 feet of wire, mount that on the back of the cap, plug it into the harness in the headliner, and have that camera on all the time in the rear view mirror, like it is now. I just don’t want to spend $400 dollars or whatever on a guess that the connector is correct.

The rear camera wires plug into that blue plug on the open end pictured.  The opposite end with the white cap was blank with no wire.  just used to hold the wires up out of the way.

I'm wanting to install a camper top on my 2020 HC but hate to give up the rearview mirror camera like you mention. Have you tried removing the 3rd brake light assembly to see if the camera can be taken out and possibly moved? Please keep posting anything you come across and I'll do the same.

I will definitely post what I find. Looking at the breakdown at the dealership, it looks like the camera has two screws that hold it to the 3rd brake light. It also appears that you can order the 3rd brake light with a camera hole, but doesn’t include the camera. Or you can get a light with the camera included, but you can not purchase the camera by itself.

I ordered the harness that connects from the camera in the brake light to the rear view mirror to see what the connectors looked like. (The picture above) I was hoping that it would be long enough to use as an extension and remove the camera from the brake light (or order a new one) and mount it on the cap. But the harness is only about 24” long. My new thought after I got the harness today would be to install the trailer camera, which already has a mount, and Is designed to be outside in the elements, and has a cable that is plenty long. I might try to order one tomorrow.
