How to lift an 03 GMC Sierra 2wd?

Recommended Posts

I know it's probably been done 475,393,834 times, but please school me on this.

It's an 03 Sierra Shortbed 2wd. V6. Fully loaded.

I would like a big ass kit on it, so I can go back to my redneck roots and live up to my billy-bob nickname. What do I need? I'm cheap too, so cost effectiveness would be nice, if possible!

Thanks,

Grant

20" body lift! . lol.

on that truck you could go anywhere from 3"suspension/3"body lift to a 16" suspension lift. it's all up to you. some kits consist of a subfframe drop which relocate you upper and lower arms. and some kits just include a lift spindle, upper arms and a taller spring

V6? You'll hate yourself for going big. And don't try to to go big and go cheap. Put a 6" suspension lift and 33's. You could go with a 3" body lift also along with some 35's, but you'll want a regear with that for sure, which isn't cheap.

At least he would only have to re-gear the rear which is a LOT cheaper than regearing the front IFS!

I would recommend a 6" spindle lift (Fabtech or Skyjacker or Superlift), and get the gears at the same time. Put some 35"s with 4.56 gears, and that SOB will be very nice!

I also say, if you are a redneck getting back to your roots, drop a 502 crate motor in that bad boy to turn them 35" meats! Ohhh Yeahhhh!!!

haha, good one!

I agree, I'd go 6" Superlift w/ 33s or 35s, if you could fit them. Regearing to 4.56s soon would be a necessity w/ 35s.

2wd with 35's.......If you are gonna spend the time and money for gears you might as well get lockers for it also. That two wheel drive will do like most 4 wheel drives do with lockers!

Please explain

They are talking about changing your rear end gear ratio if running 35" tall tires :troll:

The cheapest thing to do would be to add a 3 inch body lift and some Daystar coil spring spacers on the front. The next choice, which is more expensive, would be to add some lifted spindles. Or you could do all 3 and wind up with around 8 inches of lift.
