Telescoping Mirrors

Sorry if this post is in the wrong forum, but being this is my first day here, I'm not sure if this is the correct one or not. Anyway what I am trying to find is a place that sells the telescoping mirrors that you see on the Fords. For some reason I really like that design but not sure you can get such a thing (and have it mount nicely) for the GM trucks. I saw the GM factory version of them and was not as impressed. I have the heater power mirrors (non telescoping) on my Sierra and being here in the midwest would like to keep that functionality. The telescoping portion of it can be manual (or powered) though.

Any ideas?

Thanks..

I doubt you will find the Ford-like mirrors for GM trucks. There is a 'TTT' mirror which is really popular, but I've had no problems with the 2003 OEM towing/camping mirrors and they're just as good as everything else I've tried. Let me know if you change your mind on the OEM mirrors ... I have several new sets available.

  • 2 weeks later...

Fairly close, the new GM's have a boot on

the slide portion to keep the muck out of the slide mechanism.

They also have the turn signal arrows built in.

You simply center the power mirror switch,

then select left or right to run them in and out.

A worthwhile $49 option for sure.

Have a great one!

I spent an hour at the local Chevy dealer trying to get a part number for those mirror. I know exactly what you are talking about and I like them. They never found them. :D The manage said that they would be a couple hundred dollars. :P:P DEFINATELY a worth while option it only cost $49.

The new 03/04 power camper/towing mirrors are about $500 each via the dealer ... definately worth the $49 option on new trucks ... which I wasn't able to get. But if he would sell them for $200/set that would be a great deal! I think your talking about the mirrors I have correct?

Moonlight,

Does your mirrors have the turn signal indicator for trucks that don't already have that there? My 2003 Sierra 2500HD has the power tilting and heated mirrors but does not have the turn signal indicator there, so not sure how that info would be sent to the mirror.

Thanks

Yes, the mirrors are GM OEM towing/camping mirrors ... electric, heated, power extend/retract and built-in turn signal. I have been told all 03/04 trucks are all wired the same for mirrors ... so any mirror will work on any truck ...once the computer is flashed with the correct code for the mirror installed.

Any truck with electric mirrors should have the two switches for controlling the mirrors ... and the same switches are used to (power fold the power folding mirrors) ... or extend/retract on the towing/camping mirrors.
