Chrome passenger side exterior door handle

I am looking for a chrome FRONT PASSENGER side exterior door handle for a 2018 Sierra. I am looking for OEM not aftermarket. I really only need the small piece that fits the aft side of the handle so I don’t care if the grab handle part isn’t perfect. Thank you.

Nothing, I want to install the piece without the key hole to thwart any rookie burglary attempt. I change my fob batteries and my hopes are that I won’t have a completely dead truck battery so the fob always works. Worst case I drill the cover and use my key! I’ve looked and it should fit so I’m at least going to try it. If it fits like I believe it will maybe others can do the same thing. My thoughts are a stupid burglar will just move on to an easier target. I read a thread a while back where one of our members had his lock punched out in like 3 seconds...it’s worth a try

Very interested in how this turns out. You may be on to something here. You might check out partsgeek. They have pretty decent prices as I replaced all the handles on the wife’s suburban and think they all came out to less than $100.

I will certainly share my findings! I’m hoping to find one here but if not I will just order the set of 4 (22940647) and keep the excess as spares or help a fellow member of the need should arise. I don’t think the rear door pieces will work, not sure but from the few pics I saw they look a tad different. It only takes a Torx 25 to swap it out so I’m gonna see if my rear one will work tomorrow (well today now lol) when I get up. Post up pics when done

UPDATE: All the "caps" are interchangeable, it's the end piece internals that are slightly different. Super easy!

You can buy them individually.

The front ones are chrome caps over metal bases. The torx bolt screws into them from an angle. The ones on the rear crew cab doors (maybe ext cab too) are plastic bases and the screw goes straight in and catches a nub to hold them in place.

You only really need the chrome cap piece, but the part alone is only 25 bucks or so at your dealer.  Just make sure you get the one for the front passenger door.

Good morning! DeePa is correct, they are just caps. So this morning I just swapped my drivers door cap with my rear drivers-side cap. Took about 5 minutes. Until I get a new or used cap, I will just keep it this way. What I did was take both end pieces off. To do this there is a rubber plug on the door jam (you will see it, it is the only thing close to where the end cap is) and you just pull it off, no tools if you have even half a fingernail. Then you can see the Torx 25 screw head. Loosen the screw but don't take it all the way off, just keep jiggling the end piece until you can pop it off. That screw COULD fall into your door if you try to take it all the way out, and you don't need to...just loosen until you can get the cap off. Then I just swapped the plastic chrome "caps" off each end piece. You have to do this because the drivers door end piece is metal and the screw is angled differently than the rest of the end caps. The other end piece's internals are plastic and the screw is angled more in a straight line for attachment. I did not take pictures of the swapping but Stevie Wonder could do this, it's that obvious. Anyway, just swap the plastic chrome caps around and re-install. The metal internal that has the key-hole MUST go back onto the drivers door because the screw angle is different than the others. Super easy and FREE until I find a used one or even a new one, either way super cheap.

The one that gets the cap with the hole blends right in and any would-be thief will only see a blank black plate if they look into the key hole. The very worst thing that could happen if you get completely locked out is you have to drill through the plastic cap to access your key hole.

***Forgot to add that you need a small flat tip (or steak knife) to pop off the plastic caps AFTER YOU REMOVE THEM FROM THE DOOR.***

Well...I picked up a new right side handle (part number 22923598) off eBay for $20.69 with free shipping so I will swap out the cap without the key hole when it gets here. I had a eBay coupon so I used it and got a pretty good deal, now I will have a spare handle should I ever need one

22929239...that's what i came up with for the small part without the key hole and with the metal insert the screw threads into.

.

sorry for the delay in getting back to you...didn't want to get you the wrong number

SO...when i went from chrome to body color handles...The 4 handles are the same.  The front left and right doors have different numbers for the R and L small cap (one with a key hole, one without, both metal based with chrome or ready to paint cap.)

I made the mistake of ordering one paint-able with the key hole, and 3 paint-able for the ones on the front right door, assuming they were all the same minus the key hole..

Once they were painted and i was installing, i realized that the metal based ones meant for the front door (screw in torx bolt) wouldn't fit in the rear doors.  I had to pull the plastic bodies out of my old chrome caps and swap them to make them all work.

Hopefully this helps anyone trying to do this swap.

FWIW - I have a set of 4 chrome door handles and caps for sale, but you'll need to swap out your plastic base ones from your current truck.

Mike
