Recirc + Max Defrost

Can anyone confirm that if the recirc button is "on" if you select Max Defrost it doesn't automatically take recirc off?

 

Mine stays on recirc and Max unless I turn off the button manually.  Seems stupid to me- kind of like running a dehumidifier and a humidifier at the same time and watching them battle it out,

 

This the way they all work, or is mine just being stubborn?  Thanks.
