Dome lights

I'm having issues with my overhead lights coming on.  I have an '05 Sierra ext cab.  The lights don't come on when either door is opened or the dimmer switch is turned all the way up.  The override switch is off.  They do come on with the fob.  I was messing with the passenger door latch and it came on but then I couldn't get it to repeat.  Any help is greatly appreciated.
