Am i off base?

Recommended Posts

So I have ordered a few vehicles (2000 and 2010 Silverados) previously.  I have always had an upfront price to the truck before placing the order.  This price did not include incentives/rebates which is understandable since they change or might not be there.  I am starting to look at a 2019/2020 and have been trying to get quotes.  Why wont dealers commit to a sales price?  This is what I just got back from the place where I test drove a 19 two weeks ago.  I cannot get him to commit or even give me an MSRP price, he wants me to come in.  Anyone else running into this issue?

The selling price is determined on what incentives and rebates that are offered when your truck comes in, not at the time we place the order.

This is so frustrating, starting to make me want to say screw it and keep my 2010

That doesn't make any sense.  They have an MSRP, that is what they start with.  Just like when i built mine on the Chevrolet web site.  The dealer basically said the same price.  I got supplier discount so that lowered it.  But the total sale price I didn't know what it was going to be until I took delivery because of what incentives were offered at that time.

To figure out if I was getting a great deal locally.  I have a cousin that is a sales manager at a Chevy dealership back home in PA. I talked to him and he gave me the exact same price as the local dealer.  So I knew I was not getting taken and got the best deal I could get at that time.

So far everyone has been pretty close pricewise (2 chevy and 1 gmc dealer).  I am one to plan and I dont like when things suddenly change.  I want to assume no rebates then go from there.  I have to think they will get beter as the year goes on here in 19.

Bomnin Chevrolet has their prices clearly marked on their website . 10 to 12 k off msrp on most models except lowest trims.

Understand but I plan on ordering.  No one around here stocks std bed trucks.

The other way to look at it Ryan is that you order, when the truck comes in and you don't like the deal just walk away from it. The last vehicle I ordered was a Cadillac CTS. Did not have to put a thing down and when It came in they called me and then we made the deal. They told me if I don't like the deal that they would just put the car into inventory and sell it to someone else.

Now that was 10 years ago. Maybe dealers have a slimmer profit margin now and they want some type of commitment. But Ryan I think the way you would order a truck it would be very nice and they would have no trouble selling it if you walked away.
