Garage Door Opener Help

Recommended Posts

Ok so i bought this 2013 Denali HD and I can't for the life of me get the homelink programmed to work for nothing.  I have a typical lowes brand Linear 1/2 hp chain drive garage door opener that has worked with all other vehicles we have owned including a 2005 gmc 1500, a Jeep grand cherokee, a nissan altima, a nissan maxima and a 2017 buick enlcave.  So I go to look on Homelinks website and they do not even list a 2013 on their options to choose. So did GM not use homelink in the 2013 year model? or what?  Anybody had any problems with this?

My wife's 2012 Tahoe would not work with our Chamberlain opener, finally got it going by purchasing this from Amazon.

Apparently, there are two different (maybe more) standards and GM chose Car 2 U...

Ok so here is what i got back from HOMELINK.   In 2013 GM switched to a company call LEAR for the garage door openers, in 2014 they switched back to Homelink.  If you have the 3 buttons in the overhead console with a little pen head light above each one this is what you have.  That company was very small on compatibility.  You may have to buy a universal handheld remote if you want it work but more than likely the 3 factory buttons will not comply with most garage doors on the market.  Thats what the lady told me.  Im waiting on an email from them that has the company info and phone number as they (LEAR) do not have a working website or a google listing according to HomeLink.

Owners manual shows how to program it,  page 5-54. If you don’t have an owners manual, go to GMC’s website and download it.

yes we tried that several times first before posting this thread.  Even had the dealership send a rep out that we personally knew and he couldn't get it to work either.  He was very familiar as he had worked there since around 2002.

This seems to be the correct one as it is now known as Learcar2u.com now.  I also was just told that there is a module you have to install for it to work as well.  Do you have any knowledge of that?

Looks like it is time to get one out of a 2015 or newer.  That is if they didn't change them other than the internals. Plenty on Ebay.

My 2012 won't open my new garage door opener either, I went crazy trying.  I even bought a remote link unit that my old Volvo's system can talk to and it relays the signal to the new opener.  GM went with a garbage system that works with '80's openers.
