2019 RST with IOS Infotainment system, Nav upgrade...

Recommended Posts

I have 8" screen and no Sirius XM, and I too hate having to plug my phone in all the time to use navigation as cables wear out constantly and connection gets poor........I would like climate control app as well.....so it is possible to upgrade to the " IOS plus" system as they refer to it?

No it is not.  The tech geeks behind the site "infotainment.com" are working on a solution that will allow people to upgrade from IOR to there "IOU" version.

Thanks for all the info. Unfortunately this card is now discontinued, I am trying to find someone who will sell it to me. Not sure why they would other than someone wanting to release something that costs more to the consumer to unlock these features.

You are right, it is discontinued but my dealer was able to buy just an SD card for me and install it. You might want to contact you dealer to see if they can get one for you. My dealer said there is some cards but no kits with the books available.

The GM part number for the 2020 is 84489271

I found one on eBay, hopefully I get it. I’m sure this will be replaced with another option soon but at least I’m guaranteed one way to upgrade now

I think once you get the system enabled at the dealer for the NAV you can install an updated SD card later on as needed.

LAST ONE IN UNITED STATES???????

So, I had planned on buying this upgrade for my 2019 LT Trail Boss a couple months ago, but decided to focus on some of the larger more expensive upgrades first.  Had the part # for the 2019 bookmarked (84531832).  Low and behold a month or two ago, they discontinue it, so no problem, I bookmark the 2020 part # (84489271).  Then that's discontinued a couple weeks ago.  So I search both part #'s via Google, to get all the dealer websites that are still selling it.  This morning I called every one of them I could to verify stock, and as others have reported, none of them actually carry it, they just order from GM and haven't updated their websites yet.

Ok, so I move to eBay, there are currently two sellers for the 2019 part #, and one for the 2020 part number, all dealerships selling.  Easy enough to locate the dealership by username and city.  I called them.... the 2020 part # in Scottsdale, AZ is not in stock... told them to update their eBay store.  The 2019 part # in MO said their computer showed one in stock, called me back in 20 minutes could not locate it.

Then we get to the one in Sugarland, which as fate would have it is about 45 minutes from my house, on the other side of Houston.  I called them, yes their computer shows one in stock... ask the guy to go put his hands on it.... and sure enough, they had it!!!!  Price was $420 + tax.

As far as I can tell this is the last 2019 or 2020 available... that's not to say some dealer that doesn't have a website doesn't have one sitting on a shelf collecting dust, but in lieu of calling every dealership in america.....

Anyway, I went to go pick it up this afternoon, and started talking to the couple parts guys that were there, explaining my quest.  And one of the older parts guys said GM would probably be coming out with a 2021 part in about 5 - 6 months... but it would probably be full price when/if it does come out, as it would be brand new; i.e. $600+.

Just wanted to give everyone a heads up who is may be looking.  If a website or eBay is still showing the part #, call first to confirm, because I made over a dozen call this morning, all over the country, and found only 1, that happen to be within driving distance from me.   I will be getting this installed next week when I take my truck in to get the multiple recalls that have yet to be done.  Called my local dealership to confirm they would be able to still do this, and was told shouldn't be a problem.  I mentioned that since my truck will be on the rack getting multiple recalls done, can they just flash it while it's already getting worked on, and that GM states this shouldn't take more than a half hour anyway.... he said, "yeah, we'll figure something out, shouldn't be to bad."

Thanks for the info, I had the same experience ordering from multiple places only to have them cancel. Just found one left on eBay and ordered, we’ll see what happens.

Hope it works.... Looks like you ordered the one from Scottsdale, AZ.  It was Vann Chevrolet I believe.  Called their parts department earlier today, gave them the 2020 part # they had listed on eBay, said they didn't have any in stock.... For the life of me, I don't know why they'd have it listed then.  Hopefully you get lucky.

For everyone else, don't bother ordering the 2019 part # from eBay.  I called the MO dealership, they can't find their one in stock that the computer says they have, and I bought the only one in Sugarland location today.... Guess it'll update sometime in the future.
