My ARE order took 2 months. Went to have it installed last week and the color was off!! They had to send my gas cover to ARE to match. Right now Im driving a brand new truck without a gas cover. Looks ridiculous. It *ucked up a lot of plans this fall too!

Just wondering when you finally got it if it matched? Also what color was yours and do you have any pics? I ordered the Z series last month for my 2019 Satin Steel Metallic Denali 1500. Was wondering if I may have the same problem with the color matching. I must say though that this will be my 3 ARE Z series cap in 18 years and I've loved each one and the colors always matched. Hope I don't have problems with this one.

ugh, I ordered an ARE last week. I am reading more and more horror stories with ordering caps (regardless of brand). Not going to lie, it has me a little nervou. It supposed to get here in 6-8 weeks, until then I will feel like I am driving around in a rental until I get all moved in!

Anyone have any pictures of an AT4 with a cap?

Curious if you ever got your cap in and if you have any pics? I ordered one in Dec. and waiting on it now.

Not yet. I also ordered bed drawer system the same time, I guess they never ordered the drawer system waiting for the cap to get here first. It took 7 weeks for the cap.

I will post pictures as soon as it’s on.

I think this would look sharp on a black trail boss. I like how they tapered the roof line to match the dip in the spoiler like the ARE models do. That was one of my gripes with the 100xl. I bet they will ask $2500 for that cap plus the extras

Wow.. also call around. I called three different places on my last 100 Xl and there was about a $500 difference between the lowest and highest for the same cap.

Those of you that have lights in their cap, How did you/they wire it? Long story short, well, so far it’s a relatively short story as of now, got cap installed, after running around a bit (after picking it up, same day), I got a ‘Service Trailer Brake System’ warning on DIC. Drove 30-40 miles today, nothing popped up. Wasn’t able to attach trailer to see trailer brakes or lighting is/was affected. Some one said installer might have tapped into trailer brakes for power source? Anyone know of complications or future complications that may cause?

Normally I wouldn’t be to worried but hearing all the electrical nightmares people are having with T1’s.....

any input would be greatly appreciated.

The day I picked my cap up, driving home I got a ‘service trailer brake’ signal in my DIC. I contacted the ARE dealer and he claimed he tapped into the 3rd brake light wire (as instructed by ARE) and that the warning was just the truck cycling through.

But I swung by today (to pick up something else) and we tested the trailer plug out let. It had power going to it but nothing else worked? No turn signals, no brakes?

he disconnected the alligator clip, still no brake lights, turn signals etc and he just shrugged his shoulders and said “eh, have the dealer assess the situation”

they definitely worked before the cap install, anyone have any ideas on:

-1 where to tap in for cap lights

-2 What might be needed to get my trailer lights working again?

thanks.

**Edit** went over a buddies house, plugged in a trailer and lights, and turn signal worked. I didn’t get a chance to test any thing else...

Update - right window leaks. Dealer has to order another one.

When I took it back to the dealer yesterday, I explained to him the some water has been getting in the bed? He said "we could do a rain test and see where water is coming in". That consisted of him standing there hosing down the rear window ?. While he was doing that, he told me water often comes in at the rear window seal. I asked him how to remedy that, his response was "we recommend parking on an incline" WTF? He then said, "ARE has never garanteed  their caps to be water proof! If I wanted something water proof to get a van!"

can anyone verify this? I had my LEER for 11 years and it was bone dry. I need my bed to be dry, I camp/sleep in the back ALOT!

He's full of crap. I've had 2 different ARE Z series for the past 17 or 18 years and never had a leak at rear window. My last one did start leaking around the front window and was going to reseal it but traded truck in so never did it. It was also a 12 year old camper that I ordered new in 2007. I'm disappointed though because on my new truck I ordered the Z2 because the don't the make the Z series anymore. Dealer told me that the solid window on the side will vent like the Z series did. I didn't like the small pop out window option and guess what came in, small pop out window. Told her that wasn't the correct window and don't like that. She called ARE and they don't make it where the whole window vents. If a solid window was put in it wouldn't vent. Now I have to try and get my deposit back since it's not what I wanted. Ordered this 12-13-19 and it came in yesterday. I was looking forward to getting it but now I'm disappointed.
