Rear window defrost question

I read through a lot of threads and owners manual and I probably just missed it but...the past few days it's been very cold (well to us anyway low 30's) and I've noticed when I start my truck (not remote start and my A/C is not in "Auto") the rear window defroster/outside mirror heat button is lit up and I have to turn it off since the window and mirrors are clear. Is this just a normal feature I am just now noticing and can't seem to find it in the OM? Thanks and if this is already covered my apologies up front.

It's a feature. Somewhere in the settings there is an option for auto-defrost.

I never noticed whether it was an optionally disableable feature but I do notice that it does come on, at or near 0°, and I personally like it...  in Canada of course I would...  because it comes on with the remote start and mirrors are clear by the time I get in the truck. 

 

Also, I wouldn’t stress too much about it being on because it shuts off on its own too. At least the mirrors, I don’t have the rear window defroster.

Yes, it is tied to the

Vehicle

Personalization, Vehicle,

Climate and Air Quality

Select and the following may

display:

. Auto Fan Speed

. Auto Rear Defog

Auto Fan Speed

This feature will set the auto fan

speed.

Select Low, Medium, or High.

Auto Rear Defog

This feature will automatically turn

on the rear defogger when it is cold

outside.

Select Off or On.
