The "Catch Can" Explained - By Elite Engineering

Recommended Posts

I took my air intake tube off after 11k miles. I had no oil at all in the intake, or throttle body so since I'm not getting any from the tubes on the valve covers. When should I start seeing deposits? It's dry as a bone in there.

I have to check mine weekly on my Cadillac 3.6L. This is what the Elite can has captured in about 1000 miles. The 3.6L has a very poorly designed PCV port and is a known oil eater.

Hard choice, been looking at the RX and Elite catch can. I want to keep it simple and only go with the oil catch can, inlet and outlet only.

Shoot us an email and we can guide you through the installation. It's very simple and there are a lot of Catch Can options on the market, stick with a company you can trust.

Do it right, do it once, Elite Engineering USA.

Is it normal for these catch can to have a loud vacuums leak type noise??? It's really annoying, and yes everything is tight, no leaks but the crank case tube going into the oil catch can does sound like a vacumme leak

Had a vacuum sound with the thin walled hose that came with mine. I swapped it out with a thicker walled hose and now its barely noticeable.

Thanks for he fast respond guys, honestly I didn't like the sound/ vacumme noise it was making and I test drove it, it felt and drove different. Not sure if it's all in my head but just some things I didn't like after the install... yes I took it off and back to OEM. Honestly not sure if I'll keep it or go ahead and give it another shot.

I can honestly say you won't be able to notice anything different from driving your truck. It's just not possible.
As far as any noise, some customers have noticed a slight hissing sound. This doesn't mean you have any leaks, the noise might be a result of the vacuum running through the longer length of hoses. I know this because you can remove the Catch Can out of line, but keep the hose lengths, and the hissing should does not change. It's not inherent to the Catch Can.
A couple things to try, reduce the length of hoses as much as possible. Or try a heavier wall hose.
These Catch Cans really work, especially on our trucks, you'll be amazed at how much oil gets trapped in the Catch Can and not getting sucked into your intake and engine.

100% normal. My "basic" Elite CC hisses. I have to "TRY" to hear it at idle with the hood down. It is noticeable with the hood up with the truck running though..................but how often does that happen???

It's catching the oily vapors that would/could potentially cause deposits on the intake valves!!
