The "Catch Can" Explained - By Elite Engineering

Recommended Posts

Hopefully you are not disappointed in order fulfillment. I ordered an E2-X on 22 Feb. Received shipment tracking info on 25 Feb. It did not ship until 03 Mar. FedEx says it will be delivered tomorrow, 08 Mar.

Almost 3 weeks, geez that's a wait... The sooner the better, but I'm definitely prepared to wait for a quality product. Thanks for the tip Martha!

Well, I went ahead and bought an Elite. Should ship out tomorrow (hopefully) and I'll be on my way with the install!

I dropped my truck off for some warranty work (shocks, loose driver's seat, etc) and the sales manager said my clean side separator was a "bad idea" and "could cause problems down the road" when referring to the bank-to-bank connection (see photo).

He mentioned that that type of system is only recommend for "long term/ high RPM type applications... such as towing". He also mentioned "by bypassing the PCV system, I no longer have any positive crankcase ventilation pressure".

I politely thanked him for his advice and input on the situation and went my way.

What all say the hive?

The more I read and learn, the more I start wondering why not take the cleanside separator that's put in place of the oil cap and add one to the front of each valve cover where the existing 5/8" connections are instead of connecting bank-to-bank.

It seems like it would be relatively easy to fit up the separators.

Hey Elite, got a shipping confirmation his morning, thanks for that! Just had one more question though. My truck already has 19,3xx miles on it, and I've ran E85 for more than 85% of that.

Some people are saying that the already built up materials inside there may start to dry up and fall off after I install the catch can, since the moisture will no longer be going in there to keep it sticking on.

Obviously if the build up dried up and fell off in a large enough chunk, it could be unpredictable.

Any thoughts on this?? The last thing I want is to install it and if that scenario plays out, it would give the dealer an excuse to blame the catch can for a malfunction...

Sorry for the delay. The Clean Side Separator should be slightly loose to allow ease of removal, but not overlay loose.

Thanks guys. I just feel like the entire thing is jiggly. I suppose that's how it's supposed to be then.

First time emptying this thing today. Maybe 2k miles on it. Awfully watered down. Is this what the rest of yours looks like?

Usually more condensation the colder the weather is hence why it looks watered down
