The "Catch Can" Explained - By Elite Engineering

Recommended Posts

It shouldn't be, as we only use GM's recommended SAE J30R7 Fuel Line Hose (made in the USA), for all our Catch Cans.

Question for Elite: Is the check valve really necessary on a normally aspirated motor? You'll never have positive pressure coming from the intake manifold so I would think not. The check valve will slightly restrict flow too. I didn't think much of it until I recommended a guy to make sure to get the check valve and after that, I thought I may have given bad advice.

Here's a great installation video, let us know if you have any questions.

The only question so far is hooking up my second exit port from the can, will i need to drill and tap my MIT to install another fitting right in front of the throttle body like he did on his stock intake tube?

My E2 can and CSS will be here today. I may be asking for help from some of you guys this weekend for the install. This is my first catch can.

If you aren't familiar with the fittings that connect the can to the hoses, make sure to watch the video on them on elites website. Cussed them for about 30 minutes myself. Then after it was all hooked up noticed the video. haha i felt like a moron.

Also invest in some hose clamps and be careful when tightening them on the plastic barbs.

Got it all installed and its working great. Was hoping i wouldn't have to drill a hole and tap my Airaid MIT to connect my second exit port but i had to. Drove about 100 miles so far and its working already.

I read somewhere that you butt the hose up to the barb/ridge rather than attempting to push all the way over it. Correct?

I carefully pushed mine in and tightened it down

Is there a reason you did the second exit port instead of just the one? Did you do the CSS as well? do you think it is necessary? I'm just trying to gat a feel for the best set-up. Thanks.

No particular reason for getting the second exit. I emailed Steve from Elite Engineering and he recommended a dual outlet can and a CSS for the wide open throttle. So i got the E2 with dual outlet with CSS and upgraded braided lines. It didn't come with enough braided line to do my whole install but there was enough fuel line to finish it up.

Here are some pics. The fluid in the can is only after 100 miles.

I added a catch can about 1000 miles into being new. At first I did the HD catch can as I didn't know there were others. It always caught junk but was a little small and filled up fairly quick. After looking at all the different catch cans and how mine was less then desirable I I still couldn't see spending 300 bucks. So I bought a eBay canister and modded it with a copper pipe jb welded inside which made the air have to filter thru the fine steel mesh inside. The mesh acts as a barrier making the air and junk have to pass thru. Junk gets caught and air keeps going. Have to say it works extremely well. This is less than a 1000 miles withe the new can
