Throttle Controller opinions

Recommended Posts

Useless arguments between those who have it and love it and those who think we are all making this up and cannot be possible to make the throttle better/more responsive.

I have it, i love it and cannot imagine daily driving this truck w/o the throttle unit of your choice (pedal commander for me). It works, simple as that.

Cant argue its ineffectiveness if you don't have it on your truck or if you never driven a truck with one. I suggest you find someone and try it.

I was skeptical so i ordered one thinking i can always return it but never looked back.

well this thread is old as dirt. but in response I purchased the Sprint booster and it works great, funny thing is durring city driving I prefer the factory programming , its way more relaxing and I save at least 2 mpg staying with stock programing. but it's still inline for when i want to turn it on. I guess it was a waste of money in hindsight, your better off getting the tranny reprogrammed and upgrade the front and rear sway bars. throttle enhancer belongs on a camaro, mustang or vette, my GM truck is to Oafy   my $.02

The Free paint stick trick works well and does not break the bank

This paint stick idea does not apply to all vehicles, my truck has the power adjustable pedals, i looked long and hard at the whole operation and there is ZERO flex in the gas pedal assembly.

The Pedal Commander is the way to go for better throttle respone, totally worth it. Takes a little getting used to when you "crank" it up! its easy to light the tires up!

Also stop using D on the shifter, i almost never use it, I have no interest in gas mileage and lazy ass tranny shifting, if thats your thing then fine, but use M mode on the shifter, in town i use M4 almost always, it keeps the tranny out of 5-6th gears. In D the truck hits 5-6th gear at like 38mph and above, its so much more fun driving around in M4 (or M5 depending on the roads), hit the gas and the truck is in 3rd /4th gear and moves fast, versus bogging around in 5th or 6th then it has to shift to 4th to get up and go, I hate it.  I call D mode "gandma mode" its designed for lazy driving and better gas mileage, its sucks to tow with as well, this should be clearer but it is not, tow mode helps, but in D mode still sucks because of the V4 mode! i ve had to explain to few people towing rather heavy trailers why they have such a miserable experience towing in D! also for those who do not know M mode 1-5 disables v4 mode (i use the Range disabler to do this at all times), so driving in M4/5, that disables v4 mode, and a Pedal Commander, truck drives a lot better! A Dynomax dual exhaust also helps....just saying!

I received the Vitesse Throttle Contoler (TC) today. While I was down there I also braced the backing plate that the pedal is attached to. The bracing did help the remove the flex in the pedal, but the TC definitely reduced the throttle lag and has increased the responsiveness. As of now I have it is SP3 (Sport level 3). I would recommend this to the people that want change the way the accelerates.

**UPDATE** I removed the TC today as I had some serious electronic issues come up early last week. Monday while driving to work my truck went into "limp mode" as I wasn't able to drive faster that 10 mph. I had all types of lights warning in instrument cluster.  I pulled over and shut the truck off and let it sit for a few, but no change. Thankfully I was close to work, so I parked it for the day. That same day I received 3 emails from OnStar Notifications, "Issue with Anti-Lock Braking System, Issue with StabiliTrak Stability Control System and Issue with Engine and Transmission, all recommend immediate service.

When I left work,  I started the truck and it ran like shit, it felt like it was missing cylinders. I went under the dash unplugged the TC, plugged it back in and everything went away with the exception of the engine light. I was able to drive it normally so when I got home I disconnected the battery and reprogrammed the TC. The engine light went off, but over the past couple of days, the truck didn't feel right. While driving and maintaining 60 mph, then engine would surge. It wasn't crazy I but could hear it (aftermarket exhaust) and watch the tach move about 1/8 of an inch.

It was nice to have the added throttle response but the risk of this happening again, isn't worth it. So this will sit in my garage and collect dust. Hopefully this doesn't happen to anyone else, but if you get some crazy warnings, I'll bet it is the TC.
