Being a new system, lots of guessing going in but nice to have people trying to help each other. Your best bet would be to sit with service department and try to get them to help figure your problem out, this way your communication will be easier, good luck

LOL.  I'm guessing this is subtle sarcasm.  I've never found a service department that knows more about a vehicle than I do.  Some times if I'm bored I'll go in to the service department to talk about issues with my Corvette.  It's hilarious the shit the people working at the dealership say.  I'm still trying to convince them a C7 Z06 has TWO oil drain plugs.  They can't even figure out how to change oil.  Too funny.

I don't believe I've had the auto start/stop disabled anytime it's happened and the FOB has always been outside truck in my pocket with truck in Park.

I pulled up the owners manual and it clearly defines the feature.  I think it's a terrible feature and should include an override or disable switch....

Extended Parking It is best not to park with the vehicle running. If the vehicle is left running, be sure it will not move and there is adequate ventilation. See Shifting Into Park 0 223 and Engine Exhaust 0 226. If the vehicle is left parked and running with the RKE transmitter outside the vehicle, it will continue to run for up to half an hour. Chevrolet Silverado Owner Manual (GMNA-Localizing-U.S./Canada/Mexico1500-11698642) - 2019 - crc - 5/15/18 226 Driving and Operating If the vehicle is left parked and running with the RKE transmitter inside the vehicle, it will continue to run for up to an hour. The vehicle could turn off sooner if it is parked on a hill, due to lack of available fuel. The timer will reset if the vehicle is taken out of P (Park) while it is running.

Ran into this "feature" this morning in our 2019 LTZ. Ducked inside a building site with my dog in the back seat. It was negative 8 outside so I left the truck running for the dog to stay warm. Came back outside 20-30 minutes later and it was off. Thankfully inside was still warm enough but it made me think I was crazy. Then I figured out this was on purpose:sigh:

I think the OP has an issue with the system automatically shutting down, as described in the owners manual. The service department is going to tell him that it's working properly...which it is. He feels this is a terrible feature in that it has no way to over-ride the system which would allow the vehicle to sit running for multiple hours. If the concern is that people are leaving it running and thus putting their lives in jeopardy from deadly exhaust fumes then a MANUAL over-ride should be available to stop the vehicle from shutting itself off and display a message in the DIC that requires an acknowledgement to clear the message. If it was a function of the user to manually over-ride the system, then the fault for any exhaust related death should fall on the user who chose to over-ride the system. This over-ride feature could be programmed to require a manual over-ride after each engine start, in other words it would revert back to the auto shutdown feature once the user turned off the vehicle.

I bet it was purposely done to appease the EPA and get brownie points for decreasing and waisting Fuel at the same time not over polluting. It’s just another way the government has got a tight hold on manufacturers which in one hand working on cutting down toxins entering our environment (good thing) and on the other hand taking away owner control of our own vehicles which is a bad thing. One thing is very clear, the newer the engine designs are getting, the tighter the noose is getting.

Truck is a 2019 Sierra AT4 and I'm really surprised to find it shuts itself off on it's own after idling for somewhere around 10 - 15 minutes.  I'll admit I have not had time to read the manual yet but this was not an "option or setting" in any of the settings menus.

Really sucks for me as I'll leave the truck idling for several hours at a time if headlights are needed to provide jobsite lighting.  I'll be elbow deep in "work" and the damn thing just goes off.  I need to go over to truck and restart every 10 - 15 minutes which is a pain in the ass.  I won't even get into how bad it is when I have to sleep in the truck while on a remote jobsite.  It gets cold very quickly when it shuts off....

Rick

Well if you haven't already gotten an answer, the best answer I was able to get is that putting the truck into neutral and setting the parking brake will allow it to continue to run "forever".

Putting it into drive will automatically release the parking brake.

It's most likely an EPA regulation. Our Class 8's all have auto-shutdown / no idle systems in them. I run lowbed trucks and the newest one will shut itself off even with the PTO engaged. Frustrating, dangerous, and it doesn't save a single drop of fuel because you just restart the truck to finish your work anyway. Seriously, who ever is paid to come up with this stuff over there needs to be slapped in the face with a ball of their own feces.

Guys, this isn't on GM, this is your tax dollars and government once again intruding into our lives.  This feature is a mandated safety feature which increases the cost of every vehicle with questionable benefits.  It's not an EPA mandated feature.  The vast majority of drivers are clueless on this driving "thing" and aren't into vehicles as a hobby/interest.  With the "new" keyless ignitions some folks are forgetting to turn their cars off when they park them, often in their garage.  A person or two died from breathing the exhaust fumes and so the government decided to impose restrictions on every vehicle when in fact Darwin's Law was working.

It's not EPA mandated but the truck does get a higher EPA rating for having it and also why it be permanently disabled. Other than aftermarket items.

I brought up this same topic because I leave my Service Dog in the car sometimes, got all the same stupid answers because people seem to think I am an idiot. I am lucky I almost never need more than an hour. I leave one fob in the truck in between the cup holders and carry the other in my pocket. You can look the doors with the second fob but not with the button on the door, you can also lock it with your phone if you have that setup. There is an article about how GM did this to all their cars and didn’t even tell the Government. It was because of idiots leaving the car running in the garage. If someone has a Tech II tool and knowledge of the systems I bet it can be disabled. What we need is a GM Tech that has the tool and the desire to help. I doubt dealers will do anything as they don’t want the liability if you kill yourself leaving it running in the garage. If they ever crack the code on these HP Tuners might be able to disable it. OP dude I feel your pain!

sorry I dont feel like reading through this entire thread, but the 19+ trucks you cannot shut the "auto-stop" off at all? is that standard on all engine options? that is absurd.. I have a C class that I can hit a button and it shuts off.

You can shut off the Autostop, you need to do it each time you start the truck.
