MyLink Randomly Dead

Recommended Posts

A couple months ago I went out (right when it started to get colder here) to go to the store and my 8" MyLink on my 2014 LT was just dead.  Screen did not come on at all (No back light even), radio would not play music, no backup cam, no clock, no Bluetooth, nothing.  If I went to the audio section of the information DIC on console it just said audio off.  The truck warmed up and then it would come back on and all worked again.  It has started happening more frequently and not just when cold now.  Recently I've had my battery die after the truck sat without driving for a couple days (it is a brand new battery).  I'm guessing the radio issue is somehow draining the battery and caused that.  I did check and replaced the fuse, even though the old one looked ok.  I'm not sure what controls the screen and audio output to check and what I'd be looking for,  can anyone help me so I can do some digging?  Also to note, system sounds like turn signals and key dings still work while this is happening, but if I remove the radio fuse all together they do not.

I checked power at the HMI unit behind the glovebox and the one behind the screen (if that's still considered the HMI???) and there is power going into it (at least the red wire on the far right harness for the one behind the glove box).  Does anyone know how to test the actual HMI to see if that's the cause?

I tried pulling the RDO fuse when it first started but it didn't do anything.

Oddly enough I took out the HMI and module behind the screen trying to troubleshoot, didn't know what to look for so put it all back and it still didn't work... was like that for day and I found some wiring schematics so was going to try troubleshooting again.  Went out with my meter and everything was working.  That's been a week now and it's still working.  So I am really confused, it's been cold mornings then days in the 50's.  Nothing is consistent with it...
