Tpms relearn

Recommended Posts

Recently bought a wheel and tire deal with TPMS included but not having any luck with my el-50448, have been to local gm dealer as wheel as a discount tire neither of which could pick up the TPMS with there scanners. The TPMS brand is PDQ. Just wondering if anyone has had similar issues and solution? and iv read through forums but cant find any thing similar to this. thanks all

Firestone has always worked on my truck for tires, balance and rotate, alignment, all that good stuff. I have a 2014 and they never had an issue doing to relearn.

I used the amazon $14 tpms el-50488 and did mine in 1 minute flat. Mine is a 2018 sierra. When i ordered my tires and rims they needed to know what year it was for the right sensors.

I'm not sure what wheels you are running, but with the fuel maverick's and maybe others, the sensor sits in an area where its hard for the sensor to read.  I found a tip that said to either pull or push on the valve stem (quite hard) to kinda expose the sensor.  When I did this, it read quite quickly.

I hope this helps you or others down the road.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone, went to a local custom truck/car wheel tire place today that is well know and they still couldnt get a scan in them. Im begining to wonder if the sensors are even in there as the only one i could ever get a horn honk from was the driver side rear.

I was just thinking that while reading the thread. Perhaps they dont even have the sensors or they are wrong ones. I forgot where but I read that our sensors run on a certain frequency.

Yeah the aftermarket wands are good patience. Or let air out and horn honks then move to.next. at least that is the way my old truck was.

Most GM vehicles disabled this feature in 2011. Dumbest thing ever too. Now you have no choice but to utilize a tool to do it.

I had this problem to. The company I bought from sent me the wrong sensors. There's two different ones for HD model trucks and the regular trucks. There should be little numbers on the sensors themselves. One has a number 4 and one has a number 3. Off the top of my head I can't remember which is which but I'm pretty sure the number 4s are for the HDs and the 3s are for 1500s.

I was lucky I knew a guy in a shop and we were able to break the beads and force the bad sensors out and feed the correct ones in without dismounting the tires. I would contact the company you bought from and tell them they sent the wrong ones and get them to front you the correct ones and you send the others back when you get them switched.

I'll tell you straight up getting them out without ripping them up was pretty difficult and required a lot of lube and shimmying them out. Next time try to learn the sensors to the truck before they go in the wheels to make sure they work. I had to learn the hard way and I think you have too now as well lol. You might be about to test this theory of a dealer will let you park next to a HD model and try to learn the sensors on that truck. Good luck and hopefully this is the issue.
