Here's another interesting tid-bit.  Perusing the 2019 Yukon owner's manual, the "lane departure warning" has an entirely different icon than the "lane keep assist" icon.  I've never seen the "lane departure warning" icon on my Driver's Information Center (DIC.)

So dropped my Sierra Denali truck off at Montana GMC service center this past week.  They gave me a loaner car. Had my truck for 3 days however they did tell me they had an important rush repair that came in so they were pushing the repair of my truck off for a couple days.  Called me on the third day and said they tied the service rear camera system issues to a faulty module located in the rear of the cab behind the rear seat. Told me they would have to replace that faulty module first before being able to fix any of the Alert 2 Safety system issues (pedestrian avoidance, collision avoidance, lane departure and auto high beams not working).  Said they ordered a replacement module that they would not get in for at least a week.  So they told me to come and get my truck and bring back their loaner vehicle and that they would contact me when the module arrives and that they would then arrange to have me bring the truck back to continue the repairs.  Never ever experienced anything like this with GM service before. Come get and drive your faulty/defective vehicle and we will arrange to fix it later when the part comes in.  Blows my mind. Picked the truck up today.  Noticed that the lower plastic side trim panel on the driver’s side of the rear seat was now scratched/damaged. Wasn’t there when I dropped it off.  Really, really disappointed in GM and this service center/dealership.  Intend on speaking with manager of dealership on Monday.  My confidence with this dealership is now at zero.  Been a very loyal GM new vehicle purchaser for the past 22 years (14 new GM vehicles in that time frame).  Was looking at purchasing a new C8 Corvette.   This really has me on the fence about purchasing any further GM vehicles.

Sorry to hear this, my truck goes back in next Tues to have whatever parts installed that the ordered about 3 wks ago. Like you I was given my truck back to drive while we waited for the ordered repair parts to come in...got to remember 2 things, GM has reduced its production of “parts” across its entire vehicle line, I think I recently read that this occurred either in 2018 or 2019, and then you add the recent Auto Workers strike, and getting any parts has become a problem, just about anything goes on back order, though I’ve been told that if the parts people add a vin # to their order it gets a higher priority..... still most part orders I’ve placed have take almost a month to receive.....sucks!!!!, that being said, I hate to have anyone work on my truck, the quality of work today is terrible..... I always find things that need redoing when I get my truck home. Panels left loose. Missing hardware, parts not correctly reinstalled, leaks, scratches etc..... bring the recent damage to both the service manager and general managers attention and tell them you want it made right, if that doesn’t get it done call GMC Headquarters, Almost sounds like you make have a vehicle that would qualify for a return under the “ lemon law”, I would look into that also... I like you, have owned a few GM vehicles, my current truck is awsome. At least it was until the 10 plus software recalls, just got another one in the mail last week,  seems like all my problems are so far, software problems...... wish I hadn’t had any if these updates done, but kinda have to I guess, maybe GM needs some better software engineers?????

So here we go, took truck to dealer for 9:30 return repair appt. Sat at the dealer. About noon they said my truck was ready to go, and that they had installed a new module and re flashed the computer. I drove away, got 1 block and the DIC lit up with Side detection temporarily unavailable.....immediatly  returned to the dealer, the tech was at lunch so had to wait for his return.... they started working on my truck again, the Tech drove off in my truck and was gone about an hour, said the Lane Change Assist was now working fine..... but they still couldn’t get the side detection system working, I have a high end heavy after market bumper made with provisions for all original factory sensors, first they said one of the sensors was missing, having done the bumper install my self, I showed them right were it was located on my truck, then they said they wanted to keep my truck over nite, I told them I prefered to just bring it back tomorrow. The Service manager said that was fine and he would have a loaner car for me, he asked what I brought the truck in for. I advised it was a 3 fold issue, 1 side detection needed service, 2 lane change assist was unavailable & 3 cross traffic alert was not working..... also advised him that everything was working fine before the 10 software recalls were preformed, he rolled his eyes, like this was not the first time he has heard this......spoke again to the service advisor, said my radar detector could be causing a voltage drop, I told him that was nuts, as it had been installed in my truck for over a year with no problems, then he said that the sensors in the rear bumper were 8 inches away from where the are in the factory Bumper, the bumper is made for them, and worked prior, so that doesn’t make sense either, and the lane change alerts in the mirrors, come On sometimes briefly, so he concluded they need the truck again tomorrow for more trouble shooting....so about 4pm I took my truck home after being at the dealers all day, does seem like they at least got the lane change assist system working again, so not a complete wasted day.... when I got home I found the best part of my day, 2 brand new 2 inch scratches in my hood, took photos and left a message for the service manager, so we will be back at it again tomorrow....... good thing I have no life!!!!!

I wanted to update - I understand this doesn't pertain to Theweavman's issues but since my 2019 Yukon has been in the shop again (I have my own thread for that) I have been in a 2020 GMC Terrain courtesy vehicle that has lane keep assist.

It acts very similarly to my GMC Yukon so I would have to say that everything I described in regards to the Yukon's lane keep assist is normal.

I understand, but I think its the factory software engineers that are being pressed to engineer software too quickly, and then they try and work out the problems later, the dealers & the techs are forced to just follow GM’s guidelines and install what are told to.......the techs don’t have any outside resources they can turn to when these up dates don’t work or make things worse, everyone has to wait until GM finds these problems and comes up with a fix, I have had 10 so far, never ever had this many before, and now my perfectly fine new truck is all screwed up

I didn't read all the posts, but their seems to be some confusion and/or misunderstanding about what each does/should do:

LKA (Lane Keep Assist),

LDW (Lane Departure Warning)

LCA (Lane Change Alert)

SBZA (Side Blind Zone Alert)

I'm not intending to suggest that repairs aren't necessary on some vehicles.

Some vehicles will have some, but not all, of those systems.

Others may have all four.

I agree, all the different systems do add confusion to what’s available and what each system does, and how they all work, I’ve been studying the owners manual, trying to sort out each system and its operations and controls, I think I’m starting to get a grasp of them all, but doesn’t mean I can’t learn more, thanks for reminding us and listing all the related systems, also seems like some of these systems overlap with shared components, and then there are all the related software for these systems, all very cool when their working as designed, but a big headache when a problem shows up....   back at the dealership this morning, we will see what today holds, at least the service manger agreed, that the hood scratches were their fault and would address their repair, my service advisor tried to tell me that they weren't near the hood yesterday and had nothing to do with the scratches, glad the service manager is more responsive

I own a 2019 GMC Sierra 1500 Denali. Took it to the dealer to install update for safety recall. Software was updated.  Picked up the vehicle and noticed the LKA was not working after update. Per GM technical,  Dealer replace LKA camera, updated software, took vehicle out on the road for calibration and LKA is still not working. Frustrated that dealer cannot fix. Waiting on GM technical help to address,  Any suggestions on how to proceed?

I am glad to have found this topic.  Count this is a, "My truck, too" kind of post.  2019 FWD with some electronic and software gremlins.  My truck has been @ the shop since 2/26 with a swap of dash camera still not a fix for my LKA button refusing to toggle and other safety sensors from functioning properly

Unlike what I'm seeing here, when my LKA deigned to work before the camera module swap (and "work" definitely deserves air quotes) - the adaptive steering would suggest I move into the oncoming lane of traffic.  Good thing it seldom tried to work with that kind of result.  I'm still in a loaner vehicle - waiting to hear the latest news.

Lets see, truck in shop 2 1/2 days for LKA & side detection needs service. Damage done to my truck, 2 2” scratches added to paint on hood, passenger side dash fuse panel cover, 3 of 6 snap in panel tabs broken..   LKA system repaired and now working,  Side detection system now just reads “temporarily unavailable “, I guess better than need service!!! Took truck home after Radar detector, added forward vision camera & CB radio had been disconnected by dealer, also was being advised to remove after market high quality Sensor ready bumper, so they could move installed sensors around......everything was working fine prior to 10 software updates, by the way I have another update it todays mail?, wonderful...,,how many are there going to be????......interesting, had truck washed and side detection system started working again, then quite upon next start up.     Comes. & goes, I suspect s bad wire connection somewhere in that system,  I imagine it will get located eventually.... at least the service manager has been awsome, he told to bring it back again and see him personally, and he will work with me......also I reconnected the radar, camera  & C B, and everything working Again other than the side detection,  ?, as it had been....... good luck my friends

My truck went in shop today to replace faulty module for camera system. Service tech advised  me once they get module replaced and camera system working they will then address LKA, LDW, Collision Alert, Pedestrian Alert and Auto High Beams (aka Driver Alert 2 option package) failures.  Driver Alert 2 failures most likely a result of performed updates. Don’t know about faulty module. It work’s intermittently making me suspect it could be a lose wiring or lose ground issue. Time will tell.
