Nice truck!

Now i'm nervous with my 5yr 60k mile warranty.

I've heard of a few 6.2 needing new afm lifter because of collapse but this is the first I've heard where the keeper fell out and valve fell into combustion chamber causing catastrophic engine damage.

My 2014 5.3 had a valve that failed and blew engine. I now have a 6.2 but was told the 5.3s had valve issues. Hopefully this isnt the case with the 6.2s also

Here is the method to my madness...knowing that we only have 5yr 60K warranty, I am not going to (not saying you are at all) baby my new truck, I'm going to run it like it has 100K on the odometer and has a few scratches on it. I only run in auto when on the highway, all other times I run in L7 to keep the AFM off. If I'm going to have issues, I want to have them before I hit the 5yr 60K milestone. I say all this because I have seen (and know) people who spent the money on a new truck and literally drive it like a Prius with an egg under the accelerator pedal. I think their reasoning is that if they treat it really easy, it will last longer because I don't believe many bought these for their MPG's. So it's sort of like the kid who grew up working his/her butt off on the farm vs the kid who had Momma making his/her bed every morning while the Lexus warms up to take them to private school...the farmers kids get used to the hard work and go about their business, if they go to the hospital it's because they broke an arm, the other kids end up in the emergency room for a runny nose.

Ha, nice analogy. I took it easy on truck and varied rpm until 500 miles. I now have 6100 miles and hold it to the floor a few times a week to exercise that high rpm range a bit. Just towed my 3500lb enclosed trailer through the mountains and worked the engine pretty good. A few 5500rpm revs in hills and a lot of 4K rpm.

No problems so far but I agree with you on not babying it too much.

So they are only going to honor the PT warranty on the new engine to the original 100K?

I’m not sure atm. The manager is supposed to be calling me and I’ll ask and update as soon as I find out.

Have to ask why engine was replaced. Kust curious if something failed?

Yes, as was said number 5 valve keeper came loose when the valve spring broke.
I asked about a lifter sticking and he didn’t know if that’s what caused it. Could have just been a defect in the valve spring steel.

When they replaced the 6.2 in my 2016, there was no extension in any of the warranty's (replaced at 23000 miles).

Price drop to $32k without shell.... truck is running great and gives me smiles when I get on it. The remote start isn’t working because of the catalytic converter code. Cats are being replaced 12-27-18 under warranty.
