Anyone start tearing down a 2019 to install sound system?

Recommended Posts

Unfortunately with my rear window leaking, I'm going to have to wait a bit before installing my sub. First to make sure it's fixed, second to make sure they don't blow me any smoke about a sub being a "modification" to the truck that may affect my warranty in any way.

The Bose system does not sound good in the 2019s.  For the average listner they will be fine I guess but definitely not what I'd call good.  Not that any bose system is great persay but it's disappointing that GM puts much better systems in a lot of their cars than in the trucks.

Totally agree. I had to lower the "equalizer" all the way down on, then tweak up one, up 3 , up 5 - bass, mid, and treble, just to make it sound somewhat near to normal. This is my only real complaint about the truck haha. I want to replace the entire system, but once I my local sound dealer looks a little more into it. (He's on it)

I said I wasn't gonna, but I'm thinking I'm gonna end up going that route. Don't think I'll be running dual 18s in this one haha but something better than stock.

I just installed Focal ES 165K3 and replaced the Bose system. I had a custom ported box built for 2 JL Audio 10TW3. JL HD1200 amp installed into the cubbie hole of the rear seat. It looks and sounds better than anything I’ve seen in a truck.

Very nice.

What did you do to get signal? I'm about to get a system put in mine and at least the last my installer checked the NAV-TV interface to grab digital signal isn't updated to work with the new factory systems yet (or maybe that's just b/c I don't have Bose).

I did not have any issues. I did have to purchase a DSP (digital signal processor) due to having a timing alignment issue cause of the Bose system.

Cool. It seems like a DSP is pretty much a must have these days. They look awesome. I'm really excited to get mine put in. The last time I did any car audio was an install I did back in 1998, so it's a whole new world now.

Do you know which speaker and sizes you are going with and amp?

Yeah, it's all picked out, just waiting for stuff to come in. I'm getting an Audiofrog GB component system (6.5" in the doors and 1.5" in the dash) with a single JL 13TW5 in an underseat box made by a place called MTI Acoustics down in Texas. Going to be powered by a Helix M SIX with the doors each running 2 channels bridged (200x2 for the midbass and 100x2 for the tweeters) and an M ONE for the sub (410x1), fed by a HELIX DSP Mini, initially with speaker level signal coming from the factory system for FM, etc, and a direct USB input card into the DSP for music listening from a phone. Once the Nav-TV is updated for the new truck, I'll be able to ditch the speaker level ins and the USB card and have everything work properly through the factory system. My not having the Bose system is making life a little harder right now in that regard, but I specifically wanted the front bench seat, which limited my options from the factory. I'm not doing anything in the rear speaker locations for the moment.

Finally picked up my truck from the installers, turns out integrating with the bose isn't terrible, there wasn't a ton of EQ'ing going on with the bose amp.  Anyway here is the link of the installers build log of my system.  Nick really knocked this one out of the park, it has blown away my expectations.  Nick's attention to small details really separated his work from the three other shops that has done systems in my cars, he was over 2hr drive for me and i'd happily drive further to have him work on my truck.

So I just ordered the T-harness from LLJ Customs for my AT4 with Bose, and I meant to go back and see if we had noise cancelling like I circled in the pic and accidentally left it on no.  I think we have noise cancelling not sure, and does anyone know what will this affect.  Not work at all, work the same etc...  Thanks for any info. 4F4C76F9-83AE-4762-BDB5-EA8CEAD2A2DB.thumb.jpeg.7b213249d8fcc74f048e1fd03a74042d.jpeg
