Anyone start tearing down a 2019 to install sound system?

Recommended Posts

opened the amp up over the weekend. Everything was set correct, i played around with the gain and the sensitivity dial. Never found the sweet spot. I'm thinking it is a bad amp. I have a JL fix82 on its way to replace the loc22 that is currently in there and then a new JL VX1000.1 to replace the current JL HD750. We are on a lock down know for our county, so it might be a few weeks before i can get this done.

Why are you getting the JL VX1000.1 AND the Fix82? The amplifier will be able to do everything you could get from the Fix82 can't it?

because the current JL750HD amp isn't working properly. Has never worked properly. So i am upgrading the amp to the next level, and why i'm at it i am also upgrading to the fix82. Next step is getting the Nav.tv if i have to.

I am not familiar enough with what the VX amp can or cannot do.

So I used a line output converter to install an upgraded sub and amp in my old HHR that had a Pioneer setup.  Can one of these be used in a non Bose system?  I want to add a simple 8" or 10" sub just for a little more bump but dont want to **** anything up. Has anyone posted the correct wires to tap into where I can go back and check out?

I don't know if the amp has speaker level inputs or not, but a Fix82 also allows you to get rid of Bose's changes like crossover points and time delays that are in the amp. I would question going with a 1000w amp since the sub box is only rated for 800w.

That amplifier has a built in DSP, theoretically it should do what you need it to do as far as clean up. It certainly better if you're dropping 1100 on an amp

I would consider reaching out to crutchfield or JL Audio directly and getting some guidance because you may be spending close to 400 on something you don't actually need

So thought I’d post this here to let you guys know about a problem with the NavTv.  I have a 2020 AT4 and just had a new sound system installed.  I had factory Bose replaced with NavTv, Audison 5.9 bit 5ch amp with built in DSP, pushing Hertz speakers throughout with a Illusion Carbon 10” sub.  Sounds great, except there’s a software problem with the NavTv.  It randomly shuts off all sound from the head unit, including door chimes and blinker.  Once it’s off the unit (NavTv) has to be reset to get sound back.  Turning the truck off does not fix it when started back up.  Short term fix is a toggle switch my installer put under my dash until the next software update to correct the problem.  He called NavTv and they expect a software update to roll out in a few weeks to correct the problem.

It randomly shuts off, no sounds comes from the system at all including blinkers/door chimes.  My installer put a switch under the dash that basically is a reset button to make it work again.  I got an update that made that happen less often but it still happens at times.  Also sometimes has a crackle from the speakers but not always...reset fixes that too.  If you adjust the sound settings on the headunit, they don't do what they're supposed to do.  Midrange adjustment is basically like a gain for the whole system.  Bass does nothing.  There's supposedly another update coming but I'm guessing it will be a while with the COVID-19 pandemic.
