LTZ DL3 mirror computer settings.

Recommended Posts

Hey Guys,

So I got a new 2018 with DL3 mirrors and got the dealer to "upgrade" the mirrors to camping mirrors, but they went and disabled settings in the computer. So now I am trying to find out what all needs to be re-enabled to get my functionality back. (also had them remove the stupid DPN mirrors and install aftermarket mirrors that retained the features of power folding). I know they need to re-enable the mirror memory settings and remote closing settings. Does anyone else know what gets disabled when a dealer runs the code for downgrading a LTZ mirrors to manual mirrors?

Now the Dealer refuses to re-enable the features I paid for. So I will be having them reinstall the original mirrors and enable it back to factory. Then no longer deal with this dealer service department anymore.

Sadly,

I hear this every time bud. That’s why most just get what they need from me and achieve their Upgrade desires. Sorry to hear about your troubles.

Hope they can reenable things.

Not sure how the dealer "shut off" the features. There is no programming or set up involved.

  1. Trucks built with DE2 mirrors are ONLY upgradable to DF2 camper mirrors.

When installing the DF2 camper mirror, an additional mirror mounting hole may need to be drilled in the door. (Non camper mirrors use 3 mounting holes. Camper mirrors require 4 mounting holes) When drilling the hole in the door, the inner layer of the door sheet metal already has the hole and can be used as a guide to drill through the remaining layers of sheet metal, as shown below in Picture 1.

Object ID: 4043961Click here for detailed picture of the image.
  2. Trucks built with DL8 mirrors or the old style DPN camper mirrors can be upgraded to the new style mirror.

Refer to the GM Accessory Camper Mirror Kit for more information. This kit contains the new style DPN camper mirror.

  3. Trucks built with DL3 mirrors are upgradable to DPN camper mirrors, but the power folding and memory functions will be lost (see additional upgrade for DL3 mirrors below).

Note: The new style DPN camper mirror kit will contain the auxiliary cargo lamp for backing up and the amber auxiliary clearance lamp.

Refer to the GM Accessory Camper Mirror Kit for more information. This kit contains the DPN camper mirrors.

Additional Upgrade For DL3 Mirrors: The recommended camper mirror upgrade for trucks equipped with DL3 mirrors is the GM Accessory Kit containing the DPN camper mirrors listed above, but for certain models there may be an additional option. GM offers a full feature camper mirror that includes power folding and memory functions (RPO DQS), but there is NO GM Accessory Camper Mirror Kit for these mirrors. These camper mirrors can be selected as an option when ordering a truck. The following information is for upgrading CERTAIN 2015/2016 models from DL3 mirrors to DQS camper mirrors, see models listed below.  This upgrade is ONLY for the models listed below, and is NOT recommended on 2015 models without RPO AVF or 2014 models, due to electrical differences in the fuse protection.

With DL3 Mirrors

  1. Remove the front side door trim. Refer to Front Side Door Trim Replacement in SI.
  2. Remove the outside rearview mirrors.
  3. If necessary, drill out the fourth hole (see photo above) and then apply GM Vehicle Care Super Lube with PTFE to the hole. An additional mirror mounting hole may need to be drilled in the door (Non-camper mirrors use 3 mounting holes and camper mirrors require 4 mounting holes). When drilling the hole in the door, the inner layer of the door sheet metal already has the hole and can be used as a guide to drill through the remaining layers of sheet metal, as shown in photo above.
  4. Due to content differences between the DL3 and DQS mirrors, the door harnesses must be replaced. The Parts Department will need to turn the VIN filter OFF and then look up the door harnesses for the truck. The Parts Department must substitute the trucks mirror RPO DL3 with DQS.

Note: Please do not contact Partech for the door wiring harness or mirror lookup, as the truck was not originally built with this configuration. Turn off the Electronic Parts Catalog (EPC) VIN Filter and use all RPOs for your VIN, except for the mirror RPO. Substitute the factory mirror RPO (DL3) with the camper mirror RPO (DQS) being installed. Please refer to the EPC for potential supersessions.

  5. Install new door harnesses.
  6. Install the new DQS camper mirrors listed below, and make the needed electrical connections.
  7. Install the front side door window garnish molding. Refer to Front Side Door Window Garnish Molding Replacement in SI.
  8. Install the front side door trim. Refer to Front Side Door Trim Replacement in SI.

Also make sure this is not your problem.

Involved Region or Country

North America and N.A. Export Regions

Additional Options (RPOs)

Equipped with ONLY Infotainment System RPO IO5 or IO6

Condition

Some customers may comment that when they enter Radio Settings on the infotainment display, some of the personalization selections within the Comfort and Convenience menu are missing at times. The following personalization selections may be missing at times as a result of this: Auto Memory Recall, Easy Exit Features, Reverse Tilt Mirror, Auto Fold Mirror, and Safety Alert Seat.

Typically, the concern will start happening as soon as the vehicle is started and it will last for an entire ignition cycle. However, if the ignition is turned off briefly and back on again before the radio/tuner has a chance to go to sleep, the selections will typically reappear again.

Cause

This is a result of a timing issue between the Memory Seat Module and the Radio/Tuner upon key up.

Correction

If personalization selections are intermittently/randomly missing from the Comfort and Convenience menu, program the memory seat module with the latest TIS2web calibrations and re-evaluate the concern.

Depending on the model you are working on, TIS2web may list both a driver and passenger memory seat module. If this is the case, select and program the driver’s side memory seat module. Refer to the Seat Memory Control Module Programming and Setup procedure in SI for detailed programming instructions. The updated calibration is titled “update calibration to correct missing menu options”. This calibration or any that may follow in the future, will contain this fix.

Note: If personalization selections are ALWAYS missing within the Comfort and Convenience menu, never reappear over several short and long key cycles, and/or there are related DTCs stored, this bulletin does not apply so normal diagnosis should be followed to repair the vehicle as necessary.

Note: If personalization selections are not missing from the Comfort and Convenience menu but they are missing from other menus such as the Climate and Air Quality, Collision/Detection Systems, and Lighting menus, refer to bulletin 17-NA-186.

Note: Memory seat adjustments may not be available upon delivery or after service so memory locations will need to be stored if they have never been set when new, following a battery disconnect, or following Memory Seat Module replacement/programm

The dealer removed the options for memory mirrors and remote control folding from the computer. They even told me so. I am gathering that there is a code in the box with the camping mirrors that they run on the Navigation unit. I went from DL3 to camping mirrors to after market power folding now going back to DL3.

Looks like they programmed the seat module per the mirror instructions. They should be able to call Techline and have them set the software package back to original.
