What did you pay for your truck?

Talking to a dealer now about a LT Trail Boss. Still working on trade but have been initially quoted $47,619 out the door to Virginia. That includes bed liner, running boards, and all weather mats. Total discounts were $12232. Seems like the best deal I am going to get now. Just depends on the trade in value. Any thoughts?

I see your comment that this deal fell through, but this is not nearly enough info for anyone to justifiably give a solid answer to.

My truck had an MSRP of 57,890 and I bought it for $42,035.

You're now thinking, damn this guy got a great deal, now that I know it's possible, I won't settle for anything less. What I didn't tell you in my hypothetical example is that I got a GM Employee discount, and 3 additional special rebates that only my dealer had access to. We NEED breakdowns line by line to compare deals here, otherwise no one is benefiting from this information, it's just spam.

Thanks! I actually did try Carvana and their offer was within $100 of what the dealer is offering me on trade. And if I go that route, I don't get the trade in credit on sales tax. I'm not thrilled with the trade in value - thought it would be higher with all the COVID stuff. But I have had Carvana and two dealers quote me nearly the same thing so this is likely the market for it. I'm trading in an extended cab and they hold less value anyways.

The quote I received today was:

MRSP: $54,180

Dealer Fee: $130

Educator Discount: ($3,128)

GM Discount ($3,500)

GM Card Points ($1,500)

Trade-In ($26,000) (2017 Silverado LT Z71 5.3 4x4 double cab, 65k miles)

Total Financed: $21,721.82 after interest

All in all doesn't seem like a terrible deal to me. My pride is hurt worse than my wallet since I thought mine was worth more haha. I'm still making payments on my Corvette and I didn't want to have two payments at once but I figure it'll be good to trade while the market is hot.

I'm looking for a unicorn and they have it. I searched Chevy's inventory and it's, literally, the only one with the color and options I want within 2,000 miles. I thought about ordering a 2021 but I don't see the use in paying another $3,500 for wireless Android Auto while I watch my trade value drop. I told the salesman I would take a night and pray about it - I always try to before big purchases. Think I might just pull the trigger tomorrow.

Just wanted to pop in and say I pulled the trigger today on this deal! I'm happy with it. I'll post a thread tomorrow once I get it waxed and better pictures.

Interested to see what options you went for.  When I was looking for my truck that's what I called mine.  A unicorn of a truck.  Flew 550 miles and drove back for my deal.  Would have flown across the county for it.  Since I live in Texas this was only 1 state away lol.

I drove a Sierra Elevation a month ago. It had what I wanted, but couldn't pull the trigger yet ($$). Truck got sold and its harder to find  one locally in Silver. I like the Elevation look over the Silverado RST.

Anyway- local Mr Chevy  got in a number of RST Doubles, with Convenience I and II, as well as Buckets/console, with Leather, and the 5.3 and Z71in Silver. MSRP is 51140.

My trade is a 16 Colorado Z71 Ext Cab in Green with 54K miles on it, no Bose or Nav. The deal they gave me was this:

51140  MSRP

 -3500  Rebate

-2845  Educator Discount

  -896  Local dealer discount

 43899 Subtotal

-23000 Trade

20,899  plus Tax/Title/Fees

I am tempted to jump on it!!! I can't for the life of me believe they are really putting 23000 into my Colorado. I assume they are just making the trade price higher in instead of 19K and bigger discount. The Colorado needs front pads, and the tires are a bit choppy. I did put an Access Lorado tonneau and Westin Stainless nerfs on it as well. I look at it this way- I certainly wouldn't pay 23K for it if were looking for one!!!

What say you all?

Thx

Chris

This doesn't seem too bad, I think your only gains would be waiting out for a better rebate

Luckily the previous deal I mentioned didn't materialize.  I found a satin blue metallic AT4 carbon pro diesel with all the packages.  That's the color I really wanted.

MSRP:                            $66,995.00

Educator discount:      ($  3,921.30)

GMC incentives            ($  6,000.00)

Dealer discount            ($  1,495.25)

$55,578.45 OTD   (does not include any taxes as my state doesn't charge sales tax on vehicles)

Just over 17% off MSRP.

I figure for a hard to find AT4 diesel this was about as good as I was going to get.

Seems like a good price.  I’m looking at a very similar truck and only seeing an educator discount of $3404.  I also can’t get any other discount from the dealer.  Any idea if the educator is regional?  And anyone have tips to get a dealer discount with this supplier deal?

Thanks so much!

I believe the Educator Discount is a percentage because it climbs higher with MSRP. At least that's how it was in my experience. I also wasn't able to snag an additional dealer discount on my truck. But I still ended up with a decent trade number and nearly 15% off MSRP so I can't complain.

I live in SC. State sales tax is legally 6% but on vehicles/boats and stuff, it caps at $500. That just started last year I think. For the longest time, it was capped at $300.  So if you buy a car or truck cash out of pocket price of $8,333.33 or more is capped at 500 bucks on sales tax. Don't worry, they get you other ways.
I wish, in southern ny for me its 8.625. Highway robbery

Just bought a 2020 Silverado 4x4 Custom 1500 with the trailering package, trailer mirrors, bed cover, spray in liner, and rubber bed mat.  The MSRP was $50,200. I live in Austin and I saw an ad in Houston for the same truck for $37,700.  They had basically $7500 in GM incentives and another $5 K from the Houston dealer.  I got my Austin dealer to match price, and it was actually less than my option for employee pricing.

I thought about a 2500 but with my trailer clocking at at under 6,000 lbs, ad 1500 with the towing package is a perfect fit with a bit better gas mileage.  End of March was you best pricing this year, but inventory levels are creeping back up and the 2021's are coming in some if you do your research you can work out a good deal.

I guess my only complaint about the Custom is there is not a console in the fold down center seat.  Something I didn't notice and assumed quite honestly.  I will probably drop a few hundred on to change out. I also need to add a cigarette accessory plug in the bed, to run my bait bucket.  It's not the fanciest truck, but is gonna be awesome for our needs of spending a lot of time at the beach.

Ok,so I finally bought yesterday.  LTZ ,premium package, technology package and  3.0 diesel, 2WD.

59.5 MSRP

7000 dealer discount

5000 rebate

Trade in BMW

Total cost 37000

Yes it is 2WD truck, but after owning a 4wd truck in the past and using it one time, realize I didn't need it anymore.  I left the country living and only see asphalt now, cheers. Btw,love the truck.
