Picking up a 2020  Sierra Elevation Crewcab today here in Texas... MSRP 48,125, I got them down to 36,125 before TTL. They let me walk out and acted as if they could not go that low. The manager called me back in the evening and said they would take it.

Well done! ????

very good.....its a game and you just have to play it, and you played it well

learned that trick in my 20's....if you have ability to walk away you will always come out ahead...i cant even count how many times ive walked out of a dealership of some kind of motor vehicle or another, it always works in my favor ...but not everyone can do it sadly

Fortunately I didn’t need to do that,  the dealership was trying to make statewide #1 and knew I was willing to walk (and had cash in hand).  They gave me a better deal on the first offer than I was expecting after a fight.

I bought a new 2020 GMC Sierra AT4 Crew, Smokey Quartz with the 3.0L Diesel engine.  I could have bought a comparable truck locally for less money, but I decided to get the truck I wanted in the engine & color I wanted, so I was prepared to take a hit on the price to find the right one.

With an MSRP of $64985 I think I did OK at $55k plus Tax, Title, and Doc Fee and the 700 mile drive home. I got a $700 Costco cash card, $400 in Business Choice upfit cash, and $200 off accessories from Costco (50% off up to $200 after the survey) which stacks with my $100 voucher for accessories from gmrewards.  I also purchased the extended warranty (10 years/100k) for another $2500.  I purchased from Corwin GMC in Kalispell - ask for Sue because she was pretty awesome to work with - No BS at all.

  • Installed Options Sunroof, power $995.00
  • Technology Package $2,305.00
  • Smokey Quartz Metallic $495.00
  • Engine, Duramax 3.0L Turbo-Diesel I6 $2,495.00
  • Driver Alert Package II $1,095.00
  • AT4 Preferred Package $1,420.00
  • Driver Alert Package I $890.00
  • Tires, LT275/65R18C MT blackwall Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac $295.00
  • Total Options $9,990.00

MSRP* $64,985.00

Sell Price $55,000.00

I put studded snow tires on it as soon as I got it home.  So far I am really loving this new Duramax engine.  I haven't towed with it yet, but it feels very torquey.  I took it out on the highway and got:

  • 21 to 24 mpg at 80+ mph in 2wd
  • 24 to 27 mpg at 70+ mph in 2wd
  • 27 to 33 mpg at 55+ mph in Auto (snow storm)
  • 36 mpg at 50 mph in Auto (bad snow storm)

These numbers are based upon the truck's average calculated fuel economy over a 50 mile distance.  I am averaging 24mph in town, but I haven't driven it very much in town yet.

Hopefully this is cool to ask in this thread - what do you look at to get trade-in value? Thinking of trading my 16 Silverado CC std. bed, 5.3 for a 3.0 AT4.

I looked at KBB good $25,4-28,500, Very good $26-29,000

NADA has $30,925 for average & $32,375 for a clean trade-in.

Obviously I like the NADA number better, how are they that far apart?

I contacted a dealer that has a truck spec'd really close to what I want & gave them my VIN & mileage & they said they'd be at $26-27000 only

I would check vroom and caravana as well. The initial offer for my truck from vroom was $3k over any local dealer. Something to consider though is with trade in there is a significant tax savings, something to factor in when coming to a final number.
