What did you pay for your truck?

Recommended Posts

Purchased a 2020 5.3 Trail Boss with Leather, Connivence I/II, and bed protection yesterday after weeks of searching.

MSRP $55,340

Dealer Discount $6644

Rebate $5000

Then tax (VA) tags title and freight OTD at $47,924. Overall I thought it was a great deal considering my local dealer is adding $2k to trail bosses as a local adjustment.

Dang, that's the best looking 2020 I've seen yet, and I hate how the 2020s look.  Not bad!  I'm impressed.

I just bought one just like that. I agree about the 2020 Chevrolet Silverado being ugly. But I was going to buy a Ford. I wanted a bigger engine and Ford only offers the 5.0. I went to look at GMCs. They wouldn't come off sticker. I went down the street to the Chevrolet dealership and they had just brought that one out from prep. It's a Trail Boss LT. It has the Midnight package. They just got it the day before. It had the 6.2 and all the trailer packages I wanted. I actually like how it looks so I bought it. They also gave me some discount by doing the Tru Car price. That was a week ago. I didn't trade anything in. I have my 2003 Duramax. I don't want to sell it until I see how this one tows. Even if the new one tows okay I may not sell the Durmax. You can't do this with a 1500. Especially since it was an 80 mile haul. I got 2 loads of maple like that for free. Couldn't pass it up. Gave me 6 cords of wood.e7d40525be5333c0c847f6e6d073b64a.jpge07c3f8a94f40481392c58d992b3e349.jpg

Understood.  How has your 03 D-Max held up?   My 08 is in the body shop having some rust issues taken care of and I'm considering getting rid of her and going for a 18/19 DMAX, or a 15-19 Silverado/Sierra 6.2, or a a Dodge 2500/3500 Cummins.  We'll see.

It had the injector problems the early ones had. I replaced them with the SAC injectors. They have tips that work like all the newer ones and don't fail like the original ones. The 4/5 clutches started to slip at 220,000. The rest of the trans was OK but I had it built anyway. I was in CA on vacation at the time and Mike L is the best. My engine is not stock. It has 45% over injectors and a bigger turbo. And a bunch of stuff to support that. I haven't had much other trouble with it. It still looks almost new inside and out. I actually like the truck and will likely keep it. If nothing else we live in a rural mountain area. I can drive it when it snows and give her the new one with the auto 4WD. It would be better than her front wheel drive car. And we will both be in 4X4s.And I won't have to take my trailer down to town and haul her car home. That happens every now and then. Once you pass there the plows are hit and miss for the last 5 miles. It gets too deep for a car.  I would never even consider buying a new diesel with all the emissions garbage they have. It already costs too much to keep a diesel maintained. The problems that come with that make it not worth it IMO. I really got this new one because I will be retiring in a few years. I want something newer so I don't have to buy after I retire or have payments then. The 6.2 may pull my 28' travel trailer fine. It will pull my other trailers fine. If it struggles too much with the travel trailer I will just use the Duramax. At least for longer trips over mountains and where the speed limits are high. I am sure the 6.2 is enough for trips to Oregon and California. There are mountains on I 5 in California but the speed limit is so low and they are not that steep. The 03 is still a nice truck. But a newer diesel no way. I drive for a living and have spent way too many hours waiting for tow trucks with the newer tractors. Always emissions problems and the red light of death comes on. Plus I don't know if you have noticed the huge increase in truck fires. But that's what causes that as well.

2020 GMC Sierra Denali 4WD 6.2, Ultimate package.

MSRP: ~69k

- Rebates, Dealer Discount, Costco, no dealer adds

Paid: ~59k + TTL in late Oct.

Important to note location, as trucks are in high demand and limited supply in central TX. Most dealers aren't discounting much. At least not without dealer adds. They also went ~$4k over allowance on trade, which did require some tough negotiating. So with equity and tax savings, OTD price ended up being a solid deal.

Ordered a 2021 crew cab trailboss standard bed 5.3 leather and convenience 2  should be here late December 2020 early January 2021.   Thoughts on dec 2020 manufacturer incentives vs Jan 21 manufacturer incentives.  Will there be much difference ?  Historically is it better to wait?
