G80 RPO Code

My new '03 has the heavy duty locking differential, rpo G80, vs the G86 heavy duty limited slip unit. Just curious as to which vehicles the lighter limited slip unit is installed in?

My guess is the G86 limited slip unit is installed in trucks with the 3.42 axle ratio or numerically lower.

By looking at the rpo codes listed on this site. The g-86 is only listed on the 1500 vehicles. It is not an option for the 2500 and up vehicles.

I think the G86 locker is available on the quadrasteer axle only. Seems to be I remember reading that somewhere. BTW my '02 has the 3.42 axle with the G80 also.

On edit, the G86 is a limited slip unit used on the (dana) quadrasteer axles only. If you do a search on "locking differential" in the light duty forum, you will get more info than you ever wanted on this subject. Look for TXDoc's posts.
