Starter sounds like motor is turning over backward

Recommended Posts

My vehicle is a 2019 Silverado Trailboss it has 4700 miles on it and I have owned it for 2 months

After spending the day hunting. I return to my truck hit the starter button and the motor sounded like it was turning over backwards.  I took my finger off the starter button and the starter stayed engaged I hit the start button a few times and it stop and the truck  didn’t start and was not running.  I tried starting the truck again and it did the same thing.

I pushed the on star assist button it put me on hold. Said to use my app. I did this and it told me to call on star. So I called my salesman who gave me the road side assist number which said it was after business hours and I need to us the app so after an hour I finally made contact. On star Rep said he would text me when the tow truck was on the way.  1 hour later rep tells me it’s going to be 2 and a half hours before tow services comes and gets the truck.

(Keep in mind it’s now 830 pm Thank god my son was around to help me with my deer I shot and was able to take me to my girlfriends work so I could get a ride home.)

Rep calls me back and tells me now no one is answering at the tow service. I told them they could just go get the truck in the morning.

Unreal have to drive 200 miles round trip to work on monday and my truck is not even been picked up yet.

Sounds like a computer malfunction. I would disconnect the battery for 10 minutes to reset the computer.

AAA towing offers up to 200 miles of towing, plus (3) more 100 mile tows annually. They also give free fuel, motel coverage, rental car coverage, lock smith services, travel insurance, etc etc etc. The cost is around $100 per year. I save well over $100 per year just the on AAA discounts that most businesses offer. Plus, having AAA road side assistance shaves off over $100 per year on my auto insurance premium - so I'm basically getting paid to have free AAA road side assistance.

When I use the tow service, its usually about 20 to 30 minutes before they arrive to tow my rig.

P.S. the service cover YOU, not the vehicle. So even if your in a friends rig, the tow is still free.

I’m sure I’ll hear the same nonsense tomorrow.  It is definitely a software or hardware glitch.  My info screen above the steering wheel is flickering when I started the truck the second time.

I received an update from dealer.  GM told them it is a crankshaft position sensor based on the codes it gave.   GM said there have been others that reported same issue.
