P0332 and P0327 Codes - Knock Sensor Woes

Recommended Posts

I had my '99 Sierra a week and I got a Service Engine Soon light. I headed down to the local Autozone and had them pull the codes. The codes were P0327 and P0332, both dealing with the knock sensor. TSB #02-06-04-023A says to replace the rear knock sensor and build a dam of RTV around it to keep water from getting to it. The knock sensor is located under the intake manifold, which has to be removed to do the repair. Ouch.

While researching the removal of the manifold I saw how the wiring of the knock sensors runs to the top, just underneath the engine cover.

The dim lightbulb above my head finally flickered on. I had removed the engine cover to see what was underneath. Maybe I knocked something loose. I immediately ran outside and popped the cover off the engine. Sure enough, the plug was just hanging in the socket. I plugged it back in, reset the PCM and know everything is happy.

I have full power again. Before, the truck had a hard time getting up to speed, almost like a clogged fuel filter.

Anyway, the point of this post is to get it online so someone with the same codes could find it in a search. :chevy:

Thanks for the information!

I just had my SES code read and I'm getting P0332. It's the #2 knock sensor, or something like that. The mechanic said it was too early to have mine go out ( '01, 66k miles ). But if it had to do with water in the engine compartment, I'm probably the one at fault :jester: .

Anyways, for some reason, the SES light stopped coming on. It's weird. Does this normally happen? Or should it stay on until it gets fixed? I'm wondering if maybe when the mechanic was poking and proding the sensors, he fixed it..??

Oh well.

 Thanks. You answered all of my questions. I recently had my Tranny serviced and the place overflowed fliud all over. They had the engine compartment detailed and thats when I started having the SES light come up. Your info is most helpful.
