If I would have known about the windows leaking I would have thought twice. Every time I go to my truck after it rains thats the first thing I check.

In the pic, the silver finned one is the Bose amp. The one next to it is the power inverter for the 110v outlets. My truck also has what I believe to be the video processor for 360 cameras, down on the pass side below the sliding window motor. It doesn't look to be equipped on the truck in the pic. There is also a small module down on the driver’s side which if I recall is the park sensor module. Depending on the options your truck has, you may have all or none of these modules to even worry about.
 

Nevertheless, all of the modules looked to be potted / sealed except for the inverter which presumably has to be open for heat dissipation. There is also a piece of foam between the seat and these modules which may divert some water.

I think I'm leaning towards just the window as I would want to know if the frame cracks right away again. Versus having it crack and be covered by sealer only to leak again in a year when the sealer fails.

Tough call. Unfortunately based on the info here, I really feel like it’s only a matter of time until the replacement window cracks. I’d be inclined to want to see it as soon as it does.


But then you do wonder if the sealer is applied over the top right away, would the window ever crack in the first place? Or would the sealer give it enough “reinforcement” to prevent it? Probably not. Just thinking out loud.

Well it very well could be a factory installation issue compounding the cracks in the frame. If I get a really experienced glass installer which is what my service advisor requested from the glass company, a fine install job in the new window may be the difference in it never cracking.

Only time will tell. Like when I load up my truck up to the gills, hook up my 4,000 lb travel trailer and back it in and out of my steep driveway on a 45 degree angle. You want to talk about body flex and stress. If that doesn't crack the frame I should be good to go.

The real question is what % have leaked so far, how many will leak in 2020, how many will leak before warranty expires, and how many after the warranty. Can you imagine these sitting on lots as used vehicles in 3-5 years... I am surprised Consumer Reports, Edmunds, TFL, KBB, or any other publication hasn't reported on this, yet.

That’s my exact plan.  Use it up until the warranty runs out and then get myself a new body tundra.  Or hell, maybe I’ll go nuts and get a Cybertruck

how were you able to verify this? By part number? My new window is sitting with my truck in the shop ready to be installed Thursday so I would love to know which it is.  I’ve been assured it’s the new design / new supplier window.

I took pictures and videos of the truck before I dropped it off. I also received a 2020 Silverado loaner. Between the pictures and the loaner, I was able to verify the two different glass suppliers on the actual glass. The 2020 had the new supplier glass whereas my 2019 still has the same supplier glass before and after the replacement.

Just a heads up, my 2020 denali built in usa is leaking from the front I think, had radio off the other day and heard water flowing as I stopped, and again once I started off, being my truck had all weather mats I never knew till I raised them up I had soaked front carpet both sides and even the rears were damp. At dealer now, a water intrusion specialist (their words) is coming tomorrow to check out and hopefully fix it. never washed yet a little over 1k miles and 6 weeks old. we have had severe rain several times. fyi.... I read gm does not water test every truck, they only do a random selection and test from the assembly line.

FUYAO is what is on my Oct. 2018 Fort Wayne built Silverado. I can't remember or find the picture of the name on the 2020 loaner that I had.
