Rear window leak

I thinking this has to be a freeze thaw issue.

Bingo.  If the truck didn't leak for a while and then starts all of the sudden, it is being acted on by outside factors.  It's either sealed or it's not.

Let's take a poll to verify this theory...where are all these leaking trucks located geographically?

Out of curiosity,

Since this issue seems to affect all build dates. Has anyone noticed if this is happening to both US and Mexico assembled trucks? Majority I've seen here seem to be the Ft Wayne builds.
Both of my trucks were 1Vin ft Wayne

Or the plastic frame of the rear slider cracked from hitting a pot hole or the truck flexing pulling in or out of my steep driveway

Both possibilities I suppose but they are still outside forces.  Do you notice any cracking?

I dunno. Mine was fine throughout all of last winter. Didn’t leak until August. Just completely out of the blue. Definitely wasn’t any freezing or major temperature swings going on.

If I were to hazard a guess, the truck just ain’t stiff enough. The roof area flexes over time and eventually breaks the seal and/or cracks the window channel.

Still can’t think of any explanation for why the issue is still happening though. The window was allegedly redesigned and suppliers changed. All I know is that the “first year of a new redesign” card is expired. 100% unacceptable that a thread created in November of 2018 is still claiming victims 13 months later, on the next model year!

That makes me think pulling in and out of my steep driveway every day which causes quite a bit of flex in the truck might be what broke the seal or plastic frame on my back window. Just the morning fog/dew on the truck today was enough to make it start dripping in so must be a big opening.

I'm inclined to think its a flexing issue with the body too.  We've had a similar issue with a Jet Vac truck of ours with the frame flexing and ripping the radiator apart. We crossed braced the radiator with 1/4" steel and haven't had an issue with that one since.  The dealership is swearing they are testing it the day after they fix it but it leaks after I drive it 10-15 miles and cross over two railroad tracks.

Well, just dropped my RST off for the leak. It was dripping when I dropped it off, so that was an easy explanation.

Largest volume Chevy dealer in America, and “dealer of the year” in 2018, and my service advisor said this is the first leaking window he has seen. Oh, boy. ??‍♂️
