Service Power Steering and Service ESC

Has anyone actually found a fix to this problem? This just happened to me last Saturday night. Luckily the messages came up at start and I found out I had barely any brakes at 10mph in a parking lot and not on the hwy home! Took me probably 5 feet to stop going 10mph! Towed it to the dealership. The dealership is being told by GM that it is a voltage issue. Everything on the truck checked out fine but now I am scared to death to put my kids in it. The dealership now has it until after Christmas.

I did notice a recall recently for mine in the my gmc app, someone already started a post about it so link is here (N192268090).  Maybe it's related to these issues identified here.

Certainly looks like that is the same problem! Now to see if that is actually what my dealership did today. The only thing mentioned to me was a voltage issue. They checked my battery and the cable that the problem was supposed to be in and found no issues. Certainly doesn't give me a feeling of comfort when the brakes are what is at stake! I will ask them specifically if they addressed this recall! Thank you so much!

Update!!! The recall was performed the Tuesday BEFORE the brakes failed. Well at least I had my hopes up for a minute!

There is no reason why today’s electronics heavy vehicles can’t record every instance an indicator lights up on the instrument cluster signaling a malfunction/fault.

GM simply chooses to not incorporate this logic into their software.  It’s more economical for GM to simply tell you, “sorry, unable to duplicate”

My husband is the Service Manager at a Chevy Dealership and was unaware of this issue until it happened yesterday (Dec. 28th) twice while en route with travel trailer and children on our 2019 Chevy Silverado 1500 High Country.  1st occurrence triggered service ESC, trailer brake, brake pad monitor, traction control, ABS, power steering reduced, engine power reduced.  Limped to Chevy dealership after calling Onstar to try to find info.  Dealership showed open recall from Dec. 19th.  They completed recall and could not determine any other cause of failure.  We headed out with trailer.  Happened again 60 miles in.  All messages including speed limited to 62 mph.  Managed to safely stop at a place outside Atlanta.  Towed truck and trailer with AAA as GM offered no assistance.  We did not advise that he is a service manager as to not receive special treatment.  Told a senior advisor would get back to us in 2 business days which may be Thursday as they could not confirm whether Dec 31 is a holiday.  It was above the supervisor’s pay grade.  We’ll update after we hear from the dealership in TN where the truck and trailer were towed.  Prior to reading this thread, he was stating he thinks the problem will be in the electronic brake module, engine module or a bad connection with a wire in a harness. Stay tuned and we all may finally find a fix. He did say that due to the computers being networked, that multiple issues could result in all the same warning lights coming on.  Stay tuned!

Farrah this is exactly complete with all the same indications that I had happen to my 2019 Sierra back in the spring. I attempted to drive it about a mile to get to a location where I could park it. It has not done it since!

This problem Is very widespread throughout the forums if only GMC would review. Unfortunately i am afraid it is going to get someone killed due primarily the near complete brake failure. I filed a complaint explaining everything in detail to the NHTSA and they responded with additional questions but from reading the forums the problem continues.

I have a 2019 Chevy Silverado Custom, drove to work and before arriving service light came on (Service ESC) and after that another light notification popped up, (engine power reduced). The max speed is 40 mph. I got to work and restarted it and same thing. Went to work and referred to the owners manual, shut the engine off, waited 15 seconds, started the truck.....warning lights did not go away. Truck has less than 1000 miles on it. Waiting to hear back from the dealership.

Just had this happen to me.  Truck was running just fine, went into the store for 30 min, when I started driving my dash lit up.   Service ESC, Service Parking Brake and Check engine light were flashing.  I also had an issue where any time I accelerated the truck would shake.  Limped to the dealership to be told it was throwing multiple codes.  Multiple cylinders were not firing, an electronic relay issue as well as the obvious lights on the dash.  Dealer said they cant get to it until Monday.  Side note- truck was in the shop a week ago getting the brake module recall fixed.   Will post once I hear back.

Please do. This is identical to the issue I've had. It has gotten less often as I've put mileage on the truck. When I first bought it in early December it was happening nearly every time I got in it after a brief stop. Now it has only happened 1-2 times in the last 2 weeks or so. Nearly every time it has happened simply turning it off and back on has completely resolved the issue. I haven't had time to go to the dealer and don't want them running recall fixes and end up losing my brakes and breaking other things.  ? This is my first experience with GM and it's absolutely ridiculous to be having these sorts of software issues on a previous year model truck that cost over 50k. A real shame, because I love the truck otherwise.

Had the same issues with esc and brake failure. The dealership is saying it was caused by me using the MyChevrolet app to start the truck.

If you had the recalls performed, starting the vehicle with the MyApp is probably the cause. Do not use the App until GM comes up with a fix and you will probably hear it here first before the dealer tells you.

I bought the truck about 2 weeks ago and I was told all of the recalls have been done. I won’t be using the app to start my truck any time soon. Thanks for the feedback.

Was your truck running fine BEFORE they did the brake recall?
