This post had me worried. But now I notice he has 20” wheels which could have a different width and offset compared to the TB 18” wheels.

28mm (20×9) vs. 26mm(18×8.5)

Not really much of a difference, the 18's sit 5/64" further away from the UCA. So miniscule that the width of the tire will negate it.

Awesome! Thank you. Just to confirm no rubbing on the UCA even at full lock with it being a 12.5 wide tire? See post below that has me worried.

My calculation shows the 18” wheel sitting 5/16” (8mm) further away from the UCA.

Yes sorry, I was multi tasking when replying and made it quick. The lip of the 18 wheel is about 21/64" further away than the 20.

1/2" difference in the widths, divided  by 2, plus the 2mm (5/64") offset.

But the tire is still 12.5" wide on both the 20 and 18, which negates the wheel width difference, so the edge of the tire (which is what I should have specified, sorry about that) is still only 5/64" further away. And the inconsistencies in tire manufacturing and the deflection of the tire can more than make up that difference.

Basically what I'm getting at is there isn't so much of a difference, that I wouldn't not worry about if one or the other rubs, I'd assume if one does the other does.

I am looking to order 35x12.5x18 Yokohama MT G003 tires for my stock Trail Boss today and having them installed. Will I clear the UCA?
(I will eventually install the RC 2” Lift Kit in a month or so)

Thanks.

Hey guys. Just an update. I did order the tires. 35x12.5x18. Go big or go home. I fitted them immediately and I have no rub on the UCA with no aftermarket lift/level. I’m not on here much have pics on my Instagram “Nurse.Tormon” in my story “Trail Boss”. You can also contact me there if you have questions or want more pics. I cleared my UCA by like 1/4 inch. Just estimating.
I’ll see if I can post pics here.

2021 Trail Boss LT, stock wheels with 35x12.5R18 KO2s. No rubbing at all without any mods lock to lock. I did order a Rough Country 1.5” leveling kit because I want the truck level. First picture is the truck with factory Goodyear tires the second one is with the BFGoodrich KO2s. I will post a pic once it’s leveled also. d4804687b4c2947f2e523011b393cf53.jpg

  • 2 weeks later...

Been lurking on this site (and this particular topic) for some time now. Excuse me if I post this as a reply to someone else's comment...again, first time "poster". Great information here and I really appreciate everyone's input. Got my new AT4 a few weeks ago and just now was able to get my new tires. These are Nitto Ridge Grapplers, size 35x11.5x20. No levleing kit. Didn't think I was going to have any rubbing but noticed a little yesterday on the back side of the tire, at full lock (essentially on the mud flap). Not sure if a leveling kit will solve this but going to check in to it.

Would you mind posting some pics from front and back? I’m wondering if the tires are flush or have some poke with the 12.50 wide.  Did you end up leveling it? Thanks!

So what are everyones 35"'s actually measuring in height?   I just got 285/70/18 Ridge Grapplers that are supposed to be 34" tall and 11.5 wide.  Cant argue the width, but they contact patch is only 9" wide.   But I am only getting a hair over 33" tall when I measure them.
