I appreciate this info, curious if you might have any insight as to whether the 5.3 has the 9.76" axle (or where I can find that information on my truck)?

 

Looks like I'll have the 9.5" axle (based on this article)...

Yes, you have the 9.5" axle.  However the only parts that differ from the 9.76" are the actual gears and the pinion bearings.  Those add durability for high torque loads--pulling large loads, but have no influence on how the axle supports weight vertically.
