My first Flatbed Project (with pics)

Recommended Posts

Bought a very low mileage (44k) 2007 2500hd 6.0L from a dealer. I got a great deal on it because the bed was damaged, and I talked them into selling it to me before they replaced it. I purchased a flatbed and installed it. Yesterday I fabricated and welded on pockets and a rub rail, built side boards, welded a plate at the front to protect the cab, installed LED lighting, and wired in a license plate light. Here are the photos I took of the progress.

Things left to do are: Stain side boards to match the deck, Install the factory back up sensors, Find small side boxes and mount them under the bed, Mud flaps, and install a trailer plugin connector through the back of the flatbed. Currently the factory one just gets tucked on top of the spare tire when not in use. But for right now it drives great and looks good too IMO.
