Service Safety Restraint System plus another bug...

Recommended Posts

Hi evereyone.  So, I've had a couple weird bugs all of a sudden on my 2018 Silverado crew cab (custom).  first one, was, i started my truck with the factory remote starter in the morning.  put key in ignition, dash displays Service Safety Restraint System, with the airbag light on.....i took a picture and sent it to the dealer.  the next time i started the truck, no message.  dealer says to let them know if it happens again.  email arrives from onstar telling me the same thing and to go to the dealer.  ok, that was october 17th

yesterday, i remote start the truck again, and same message.  take a picture and send to the dealer.  now they want to look at it.  appointment is next tuesday.  message has not displayed again, and the truck drives fine.......

so, i go to get fuel tonite on the way home from work.  low fuel message pops up.  stop at the local mobil station... put in $30 which is 10 gallons.....start the truck.  the fuel gauge spins all the way down to the 6 o'clock position, and bounces backwards.....and now is at the 3 o'clock position, showing the tank as more than a full tank, but it really only has 10 gallons.......

take the picture, send it to the dealer......they will check that out on tuesday as well.....

shut the truck off, all guages except the fuel gauge go to the left, like normal.  the fuel gauge shows i  have 3/4 of a tank.

6800 miles on it.  it drives fine, and i notice no issues.

any thoughts as to what kind of gremlin i have going on here?  i'd like some input to take to the dealer, if anyone else has had an experience like this.

thank you all for your answers in advance.

Greg.

:troll:Wow brother.  That's some crazy stuff going on there.  Besides taking it to the dealer, only thing I can suggest is "Do NOT" feed it after midnight!

I started the truck yesterday morning, like normal with the remote start.  Happily surprised, the fuel gauge is back to normal.  its odd, that the only time i have seen the service restraint message is 2 tuesday's in a row.  i guess we'll see this tuesday what the dealer has to say....

Hello.  Even though there weren't really any replies to this issue, I figured I would update to give the findings anyway.  The safety restraint system issue was due to a faulty left rear, side impact sensor.  Part # 13504470  was changed, and system was reset.  Zero issues since this was done over a week ago.  As for the fuel gauge bouncing.....nothing found.  It has not happened again either.

So, hopefully, if someone has this issue in the future, this reply will be of help to them.

Hi everyone.  So, I had the Service Restraint System message come up last Wednesday morning again.  It only happened one time, but I still chose to take it to the dealer.  This time, the module ( part # 13522335) was changed.  I advised them, that I noticed the message came up after I had opened the rear, drivers door that morning.  That is the door that the sensor was changed in the first time.  So far after several times driving the truck, there has been no message.  Let's hope this is now fixed.......
