Which Heads

I have a 99 Tahoe with the 5.7L Vortec. It seems like the heads are pretty restrictive so should I get the GM Fast Burn heads pr extrude hone the stock ones?

Save the money, and do the ones you have. They will flow very well.

Is it the heads that are restrictive or the intake manifold? I just seen a post saying the intake manifold is horrible on the 5.7L

Intake. Those heads a hot rodders dream. For the price anyway. They're like a jack of all trades head because they flow, tumble swirl and scavenge good. Maybe not as much as a costly set of Trick Flow's, Dart's or what not, but more than sufficient for most applications.

 

I think Edelbrock makes an intake that specifically fits the bolt pattern on the Vortec heads.

Ditto with CMT...The L31 heads outflow the L98 TPI (Vette) and when larger valves are machined in will flow on par with the LT4 heads.

Thanks for the input, I am so glad I posted this so I didnt go out and spend the 1200 on the Fast Burn heads.
