leveling a trailboss

Yes I am, zero complaints. I didn’t add the rear block as I have Bilsteins and didn’t want to over extend them and I’m not a fan of shock extenders.

I’ve been running this level for approx 8k miles. No issues until a few months ago the truck developed a very annoying clunk when turning into traffic and rolling at slow speeds. Drove my self insane looking for the issue and finally narrowed it down to the passenger CV axle. It had a wobble to it and was pulling away from the front diff. Was able to get the dealer to replace it under warranty, but they noted that it was caused by the extreme angle. I’m concerned now because I don’t know if this was caused by the level or if it was a faulty axle and they just blamed it on the level.

 

Anyone else had any similar issues with nosies or failed CV?

I would say that any type of lift causes more wear and tear on the CV axles on any truck so it probably contributed to it regardless if the axle was somewhat faulty. Looks like yours isn’t the AT4 but did you install the AT4 lift as well? Asking because the AT4/TB have different CV axles and also if it installed by someone. I had my CV boot on a Tacoma tear by a shop and they had to repair it and completely messed up my CV axle when they tried to reassemble it. Had a clunking noise within a few weeks.

The truck came with the factory 2” AT4/TB lift. The RL level was professionally installed, but there’s always a chance they could’ve messed something up.

Have the Trailboss lift on mine, did not use the trailboss axles as the lifted shocks were ‘donated’ to me. But I knew what I was getting into as I saw people were running 3in up front on non-trailboss models and turning out ok.. 
 

Worked well for about 3-4K miles but unfortunately I now have a clunk when turning and going over certain bumps, might be from the CVs. 
 

The new UCAs did absolutely help the ball joint angles, I don’t have pictures for comparison but I will say that I wasn’t satisfied with the angle of the stock UCAs with that much lift.

 

Now i just need to locate some Trailboss axles and wheel spacers as the RL UCAs are so beefy they nearly touch.

Have the new Ready Lift 1.75” kit sitting in the garage and waiting install Anyone still using auto 4 with the kit installed? I ask because it states it probably won’t cause any issues. It isn’t recommended. Feels more like a CYA thing. I know for sure you can’t use it with a true lift. Curious if anyone is having issues running the auto four. Thanks

Pulled CVs and swapped out for Trailboss axles. Turns out the standard ones are actually ok. Looks like the clunk I get is from the diff itself. I can pull on the Inner CV cup and the dust seal on the diff comes with it, the axle itself as no lateral movement, about 1/4” movement between dust seal and the diff itself. Almost like the bearing behind the seal isn’t pressed in all the way? I have a video but it exceeds file limit.

Has anyone with the Ready Lift trail boss level kit with the Ready Lift UCA's had problems with with stock trail boss CV axles? Clunking when turning? Or anyone with the Zone level with UCA's? Trying to decide on which one.

Yes, I’ve been running the ReadyLift for a while. I’ve gone through (2) - CV axles with the ready lift and it’s currently clunking terribly again. 

 

The overall lift of 4” is just too much without a drop bracket. I’ve been dealing with issues for a year with no help from ReadyLift.

Gotcha, I'm so torn. Do I go the cheap route with Rough Country or Motofab and wear out ball joints, or go with ReadyLift and possibly end up with CV axle problems? I'm interested to know if anyone has had CV axle issues with the Zone level kit.
