leveling a trailboss

You are 100% correct. They come with longer struts and do not correct the geometry
For that reason I'll keep mine the way it is.. the standard box truck is very close to level anyway.

If I did need a little extra height BDS makes a 2.5 coil over that has knuckles and full geo correction.1c2efb0197f232e532373b217e542131.jpg

Zone has a 1.75" leveling kit. has anyone bought this kit? I'm thinking this is the lift i will go with.

http://zoneoffroad.com/1.75-Leveling-Kit-2019-Chevy-TrailBoss_and_Sierra-AT4/c1171

1.75" Leveling Kit

Here's some of the information.

  • 3-piece design with top mount spacer and 2 preload spacers to raise ride height without over-extending suspension during droop travel
  • Maintains ride quality and handling characteristics
  • Allows clearance for 33-34" tires
  • Includes Factory Protection Plus

Zone Offroad is now offering leveling kits specially designed for the 2019 Chevy Trail Boss and GMC AT4 trucks. Engineered to be more than just a "budget boost", these kits are designed to a higher standard to work within the parameters of the factory suspension and steering geometry to maximize its potential while allowing clearance for larger tires. As with all Zone Offroad lift kits, these new kits are backed by Factory Protection Plus for piece of mind wherever your adventures may take you. Factory Protection Plus includes Zone Offroad's Limited Lifetime Warranty, ESC system compliance and a 5-year 100,000-mile drivetrain warranty.

Important Notes!

  • 1. Strut compressor required for installation.
  • 2. Will not fit Adaptive Ride Control (ARC) equipped models.
  • 3. Tires wider than 295/ cannot be installed on factory wheels due to clearance issues to the steering knuckles.
  • 4. Welding required to install optional LCA steering stops.
  • 5. Complete 1.75" leveling recommended for AT4, Trail Boss suspension not as raked for the factory so installing without thin preload spacer will net 1-3/8" lift for a level stance.

Hope this information helps.

Did you end up going with the Zone kit? I just bought one and I'm wondering how it worked out for you?

No wheel spacers and there is about a gnats ass of clearance but no rubbing

Very sharp... have you had any cv or ball joint angle issues ... can you post a pic or two of the angles ... I’m considering installing on my 2020 TB

No issues so far, the angles didn't look like they changed much at all and it's been about 10k miles with it installed. Feels fine offroad, no weird handling or noises though I try to keep it pretty slow and controlled (she ain't a beater). That being said, this was the only kit available when I bought it but if the kit with the corrected control arms was available at the time I'd have probably gotten that one instead. FYI the 35's only fit because they are 11.50 wide. Anything wider would definitely rub and cause issues.

Thanks for that very informative reply, I think anything over 1.5 inches(on these factory lifted trucks) may put the cv axles at its limits , the ready lift 1.75/ 2.00 corrects the upper ball joint issue (new control arms) but doesn’t correct the cv axles with a differential drop.. so the 1.5 RC level caught my attention due to the just right amount of lift .... I’m planing on going with 285/75/18’s which is a hair taller than a 35 and 11ish inches wide. Thanks again any pics of the angles would be highly appreciated.  RC gets a bad wrap the 17 Sierra I sold had a 7 inch RC lift (strut lift) and I had zero issues , a quality installer is key .

Added a Motofab 1" spacer (CH-1LM-TB)  to my 2019 trailboss. after about 8 months passenger side upper ball joint separated.

Normal driving, couple railroad track crossings daily at speed that might have extended suspension.

Lucky i was going only about 25mph when it came apart. Going to go with better angle upper a-arms.

So is the general consensus to not level these trucks?

I replaced both upper control arms, Rough Country arms, the ball joint angle is way better.

so far so good !  I would recommend checking factory ball joints with lift once in a while especially if you hear any clunking.

Mike,  Can you confirm if you replaced the upper control arms ?  or did the Factory control arm separate ?   Thanks

Leveling kit for 2019 trailboss ball joint issues.

install a RC level kit on my trailboss it lasted 20,000km then the ball joint broke off the upper control arm at a slow speed. Very dangerous!
