Returned K&N FIPK

After installing the FIPK, I wasn't very impressed with the fit and finish of the product. The airbox rubber molding didn't make contact with the underside of the hood, thus allowing hot air from the engine bay to be drawn into the filter intake. The intake tube connection at the throttle body was piss poor and didn't leave much room for a solid seal. Lots of noise under hard acceleration. Anyway, took it back and reinstalled the factory box with K&N filter. The Volant looks like it may be a better system so far as quality and offers a true coldair box similar to the factory unit.

I'm pretty sure that the noise is somewhat normal. Mine makes a sucking sounds when I accelerate hard. There are no leaks. My friends ram sounded like it was supercharged. I guess it's all in what you like.

Sorry bout that though, atleast the took it back. :P

I agree with the K&N fit & finish problems... had a FIPK GEn II on my 1997 Dodge Dakota... the plastic intake tube broke at the throttle body, had to get a new one... then the conical filter tore at the rubber connection to the intake tube... was NOT worth the money and had to reinstall factory air box! Volant product is MUCH better w/fit & finish.
