Thanks.  It's an interesting idea.  I really don't think I'd like it as a replacement for 4L.  If you use it for any length of muddy trail, it could lead to high brake wear.  Also, off road driving is risky enough, and I'm not a fan of having the vehicle control the brakes for me.  I never understood why "hill decent control" is a feature either.  Does anybody use that ever?

Where did I say that?

You said "putting a boat in" which would involve backing in, floating the boat off the trailer, and pulling out an empty trailer. Would it not? Why would you need 4-low for backing in? All youre using is your 4 wheel disc brakes backing in. Not sure where 4-low would offer any benefit over 2wd. I could see when retrieving and pulling the weight of the boat up a steep ramp.

Because, it's my truck and I'll drive it how I want.  I wasn't aware I needed permission to use 4L.

Same here.  I use 4L every time I put the boat in or out of the water.

I used to offroad a lot. Also grew up in the hills and farm country of Michigan so rutted trails in the woods to get to your hunting land, a back field, or where wood was being cut was normal.

Not having 4 low just seems odd to me.  I can’t say I need it every day but having the extra 20lbs worth of gears in the transfer case doesn’t bother me.

Oh yeah, low works great in sand and mud. You just need to be in a higher gear.

I don't understand why the 2 speed transfer case isn't available with the Max trailering package. Sometimes l need 4 lo to get heavy equipment to the job site.

This seems like a major over site on GM's part.

I can say this: I used 4L to get over a steep curb while there was a wall a couple feet past the curb and a car was parked inches away from my rear bumper. I was concerned I wouldn't use enough gas and hit the car behind me. Or overshoot the curb and hit the wall in front of me. In the meantime, I was on dirt so 4WD traction was necessary otherwise the rear tire would just spin. Fortunately, 4L was really slow and I was able to get over the curb then get out of the awkward parking spot.
