I can't get on board for UOA's. While it maybe a good tool I've just changed my oil and filter more frequent. Not interested in getting max life out of oil. Prone to clean oil instead of dirty oil for another ****** miles.

I totally understand.  I was just curious as to what the UOA would look like, whether it was like brand new or what the wear looked like with that kind of use.

I'm going to hear a gasp because I will agree to a point. Then disagree on another. First the agreement. I could care less how long an oil last. Yes within reason.

That said to me and for me the UOA isn't a tool to lengthen the service life of the oil. It's a tool to lengthen the service life of the equipment it lubricates. It does this by putting what is already happening unseen in focus and knowable. Look, don't look. the machine is already talking.

I think people get in trouble with these like taking too many aspirin. Got a headache? Take an aspirin. But don't take one because people get headaches so you might someday.  A UAO is a diagnostic tool one can use that unlike many others is 'non destructive'.

Because it is non destructive it can also be used, on occasion, to 'sneak a peak' or build a history so you know what your machines 'normal' looks like.

Yes, you can use them to run down OCI length. On that I also vary from the normal. Not looking to see how close I can stand to the edge of a cliff but I do want to know where that edge is so I can stay a 'safe distance' away and yet close enough to not toss money down a rat hole. My 'safe' is much shorter than most labs 'safe'.

Anyway....my 2 cents worth.

164,900 Mile Service

Dizzy 2015 GMC Terrain 2.4

Seems I miss adding this.

3/27-28/2022

300 mile OCI

164,909 actual.

Top end soak over night. 1 ounce KREEN per cylinder. Next morning added an additional pint of KREEN to crankcase (quart total) and ran for 30 minutes. Dumped and refilled with new filter. For 300 miles that is some of the blackest oil I've even dumped out of a motor.

5 Quarts Kirkland 5W30

NAPA 27802 cellulose filter. (cheap).

2022 LTD Trail Boss Custom

2.7L Turbo GDI

7,379 OCI   See oil analysis results, using Amsoil and a air filter change at 8271 was able to drop fuel dilution of oil  by 65% from oil sample test 3.  0.6% best fuels dilute measured in this unit to date.

consumed 1 Qt only added 3/4 qt to get to service.

Power Flush with B&G ATF machine removing Mobil1 HP ATF installed Amsoil ATL, 13 qts or so.

Rear differential OEM GL changed out to Amsoil SVG 75w90 < 3 qts.

Front differential awaiting a gasket because the removal was too difficult with suction tube. That will get ~ 2 qts of SVG 75w90 Amsoil GL.

Earlier drain of OEM transfer case fluid installation of ATL in transfer case @ 6395 miles 3/27/22.

6 Quarts Amsoil OE 5w30 Full Synthetic

1 AcDelco PF66 OF

Installed Mobil1 5w30 for final dealer free oil change w/PF66.  Noticably louder with M1 than Amsoil OE. Will go to Amsoil ASL 5w30 signature series from Nick and Synthetic Advantage soon. Using Mobil1 as a flush more than anything else because it was free.   Thanks to Nick I can afford Amsoil and justify its use, also they ship WICKED FAST via UPS or FEDEX to our remote area in literally a day or two during working week. Amsoil even gave me a $5 birthday credit and free shipping on all that fluid!

For 42 years I was a hired gun for all the oil companies and Amsoil has really stepped up the quality and service from 1979 or so when I started evaluating them. The cleanliness of the fluids is amazing because of their new blending/processing facilities in WI.

7/1/22

14029 miles

Front differential done by me on a good day, thanks to better living through chemistry and pain meds. Removed front rock guard realized dealer tech was a lazy boy wanting to go to lunch....LOL

Dealer will now have an extra front diff cover gasket on hand cause I don't need it now.  Excuses much Ryan!

Used oil analysis suction pump, slow but effective. Removed  Castrol 75w85 GL that looked like a soy based synthetic and replaced 1.7 qts of SVG 75w90 Amsoil GL. I believe the SVG is an Oil Soluble PAG 100% base on their NOT REQUIRED REPORTING on up to date SDS. Water white compared to this at 14000 miles!

Since Amsoil SVG and ATL is now in every drive line compartment the smooth shift and 4WD notchy tight turning feel gone!

Down shifts are noticeably smoother and positive with ATL in 8 speed.

Short changing for viscosity protection. 5% fuel in oil. (historical not measured)  Yea, yea....getting shop time is a drag. I have the pump and pipe in hand. Was hoping to have this done before a change was needed. Tis the nature of hope to not have an assurance.
