Continental Terraincontact A/T reviews

The Falken Wildpeak AT3W is NOT a great tire.   Ok at best.   I rotate every 5K and balance every 10K.  Was lucky to get 45K miles out of them.    3/32 @ 45K

Dry 9/10

Wet 7/10

Snow 6/10

The KO2 are great.

Dry 10/10

Wet 9/10

Snow 10/10

Tread I got 60K and still had 6/32

Good Year best tires out there

Dry 10/10

Wet 9/10

Snow 10/10

Tread: (3) pairs all got 75K+ with 5/32 @ the 75K mark.

* once you get to 5/32 the wet traction drops off to 7/10.  Snow 7/10 as well.

The Falken Wildpeak AT3W is the best overall tire. Goodyear tires are great for burning and creating smoke signals with, maybe tire swing or something that doesnt involve them being on a vehicle. The SRA that came stock might as well been plastic for the amount of traction they provided. The KO2 is on par for performance with the AT3W, but you do not get as much value out of them due to the price. I was set on the KO2 until I found the AT3W.

Here are the Continental ATs on my truck (285/45/22).  I have about 3000 miles on them now and all of the positive reports on these tires so far are true.  Very quiet, softer ride than my Bridgestone Duelers, aggressive styling, balanced great, and awesome wear rating.  Consumer reports ranked them the best AT tire....I know I'm not a fan of CR either, but after reading the reviews, seeing them in person, and installing them, I am sold on them so far.  Here are some pics.

Are you in a winter climate? The snow performance is the only thing that scares me. The reviews say they're good in fresh snow but not good on messy roads which describes New England for three months. Honestly I like these because it's an American company and they look like a good highway tread with some off road capabilities.

My review is from first hand experience.   AT3W just couldn't hold up.   The tread wear being the biggest issue.   Wet traction also VERY poor.   I agree the stock GYs are horrible.   I am not a big GY fan at all.  However, these Dura's are the real deal.   (as are the KOs).  Falken is a cheap tire for a reason.  Again, my review is from 1st hand experience with all 3 tires.   I drive 45-50K miles a year with the truck.   I live in Chicago area.   Have all climates.  Do some relief review searches with over 30K on the Falkens and you will see my review is constant.  (I bought the tires because of the initial reviews as most others did.   Then found in the long run they don't hold up.)

Look in the Tires forum on this website.  There you will find discussions on the Continentals and the Bridgestones, along with many others.

I never even knew there was a tire forum on here, nor the other sub categories I just discovered. Thanks for the heads up!

This has always been my experience with Falken tires which is why I was weary. I had 452s on an autocross car years ago and they marbled once and went to shit. Replaced them with Hankooks that held up unbelievably well and never looked back. They were an outstanding tire at first though.

I still 100% disagree, regardless of what the experience with Falken was. You must have been driving at 90+ MPH or some other form of aggressive to cause the damages you experienced. DuraTracs are newer to the market and still have some proving to do, but seem promising. Unless these tires fail or begin to loose that like-new traction I still have as I approach their midlife, I won't be changing my opinion either. Lots of reviews to back this these tires as a proven product. Amazon, Google, YouTube have plenty of proof...

Michigan and Northern Ontario.  Wish I could help you there.  I have a different wheel and tire combo for the winter.  I have not found better traction in the winter than running dedicated winter tires.  Mine are Hankook Winter iPike tires and would never go back to all season in the winter.  It is not only about moving ahead, but stability, tracking, and stopping as well.  This way I get to run the tires I want in the summer and not worry about winter traction.   Yes I have an up front cost, but each set lasts longer because I only run them half a year at a time.

I have always run winter/summer but was hoping to avoid that with this truck. It would give me an excuse to buy the rims I really want though.

This is good info!  I’ve had some bad luck with GoodYear tires but have been really interested in Duratracs.  I was also considering General ATX.  Based on your experience with KO2s I have 30k miles left with mine, so a while to decide.

I was torn between getting another set of the KO2s and the GY Duras... I ended up with another GY set based on looks.  The GY just seemed a little more aggressive looking.   You can not go wrong with either set.

Also... all 3 (AT3s, KOs, GY Duras) had very good stopping distance.   Very confident.   Lateral traction was great 10/10 with the KOs and GY Duras, the AT3s were decent.  8/10.   The stock tires are garbage   At least we all agree on that.
