Really? No adaptive cruise?

Doesn't the current gen GM SUV have that?

With lane keep ASSIST and Low speed automatic braking / Collision avoidance on current trucks, you would think T1XX would have adaptive cruise.

At least it has Blind spot detection, GM SUV have had that since GMT900 generation.

My bet is GM is saving adaptive cruise for mid cycle refresh which is BS IMHO.

MotorTrend said according to GMC they have something better in store, but it wasn't ready for the 2019s.

I assume we will see Super Cruise on 2020s.

What a shame...so in the mean-time If we’re in the market for a truck...we either have to accept the sub par offerings of this new design/upgrade, or buy another brand that offers the options we hoped would be there on the Denali’s and High country’s for 19???

This is disappointing imo.

I made the comment that these seemed not ready for the mainstream market a week ago and caught some heat for it. Glad I'm not the only one who thinks that GM dropped out of the running for truck offerings. That's hard for me as a die hard GM man to say or write.

I can't believe no one has stated the obvious in that if you leave your hitch in the receiver from the weekend boat trip and then stop by Lowes on Monday...arms full and hit the tail gate down button on the key fob...now you have a scratched power fold gate if it double folded. Morons are in charge at GM.

No more engine power is stupid, screw weight loss.

I personally don't want a truck that's trying to look like a Tesla on the inside and I've never been a fan of Dodge/Ram trucks so I'm definitely biased.  I do own a Jeep JKU which I love (spartan interior) but that's the only Dodge product I'll ever own.  I expect at some point the JKU will break on me but I expect it to.  It's a rig that's meant to see a hard life.

My previous truck was a '16 Ford which I loved but changed jobs (company owned) so I've  been without a truck for a year.  I started looking at trucks again about 6 months ago and Ford was now out as I hate the new grille.  They Chevy's had really caught my eye but I sat in one and instantly noticed the steering wheel isn't straight, it's slightly tilted towards the driver door.  The interior also felt less roomy than the Ford so based on these 2 things I walked from purchasing an '18.  The steering wheel alignment issue would bug the hell out of me.  I thought I was going to be stuck without a truck for some time as I didn't think the Chevys were due for a complete redesign yet.

About 3 weeks ago I stumbled on an article about the 2019.  No reviews yet, just speculation.  The new model caught my eye on the body style and I started thinking this was a good possibility.  I located a couple last weekend and upon seeing it in person I was nodding my head yes.  Then I opened the doors on the High Country and really liked what I saw.  I've only had it for a week now and I'm still finding things that are cool as hell.  The instrument cluster has so many options to configure how you want it to display information and the head unit in the dash is just the right size IMO.  I like buttons and knobs and this model delivers.  Screens for info and buttons/knobs for functions, awesome!

Vehicles are an emotional thing.  At least for me they are.  I want a machine to still be a machine.  We had a vehicle that had adaptive cruse and lane assist and assisted parking and I hated it.  I hated being startled when I was in control of the situation and because someone was turning in front of me the vehicle decided to throw out the boat anchor and lock the brakes up.  Lane assist was something I played with for amusement on long trips.  The parking thing was cool to see a manual park itself and I'd love to see that in a truck but the cameras on my HC that give me a 360* view check this box for me.  My HC has a sunroof but I keep the panel closed because I don't want the sun beaming down on me.  Have a '15 Mercedes and the Pano Roof drives me nuts.

I bought the new model and think they got it right but time will tell.  Fit and finish are just right for me on this model but we'll need to wait and see how it stands the test of time.  Not a fan of the wood look and chrome but I can wrap those parts and move on.  If I start hearing rattles....

Very good points Kevin.

There are still buyers out there who want a truck to be a truck.

It seems like you can still have your cake and eat it too when it comes to the new High Country and Denali.

I do not think this is the case with RAM, or at least the Laramie Limited high end offering.

The interior is great if all you do is cruise coast to coast or across state often. The luxury is best served there.

For most of us driving to work daily, making the occasional big box store visits, taking the family camping

or towing a trailer now and then, the Silverado and Sierra make more sense.

It's funny how we constantly compare to the new RAM, but not so much Ford.

Is that because RAM is gunning for the #2 spot or because our GM fan base feel that toppling Ford is a pipe dream?

I personally do not think of throwing Ford in the mix of comparison because there is No Comparison.

Ford remains on top because of fleet sales period.

Take that away and GM would be #1

We are all on this forum because we chose a GM truck.  They weren't #1 when we bought them .  There is nothing in this article or on the Edmund's video that would discourage me from buying a '19 GM product.  These reviews help identify the target audience of the different models.  GM does the best job of maintaining a distinction between car and truck, imo!

Lol really ? Cmon man. I hate these kind of  excuses. Just makes you sound like a brand loyal Nut  hugger. Ever stop and think why they dominate fleet sales ? I don’t get too much into overal sales but to make this comment is just stupid. Nothing personal towards you but dominating is dominating. If gm could dominate fleet sales like ford , they would.

I’m not too hung up on one brand vs another. I buy what I want based on value to me.

But if you lump Sierra and Silverado sales together - they’re the same truck built on the same assembly lines - then the combined sales outpace F150.

Claims of “more trucks sold than the competition” are meaningless outside of consumer advertising.

And fleet sales are sort of complicated. If you’re running at capacity selling cars to consumers, you’re gonna dual-back less-profitable fleet sales.

I haven’t looked at the numbers so I can’t say who is running at capacity and who isn’t. Nor have I looked at days supply recently.

But fleet sales absolutely are vital to keep factories running. They also help to depress used-car prices as they increase the supply, which is great if you’re shopping for a used vehicle.
