I never Posted about "Square Bodies"

Of course the 2019 Looks nothing like a Square Body!

You can't convince me that the 2019 looks Nothing like a 2003-2006

Cat Eyes are Cat Eyes! LOL

Anyway, other than looks the reviewers are not kind regarding Interior, Engine, or even road noise levels compared to the other two.

Maybe GM will Revamp things and have a RAM like truck of their own in 2022

Personally as I had stated in my reply to you in the Old Habits Die Hard thread yesterday, GM should have tweaked the 2016-2918 body style a bit more and just made some of the interior changes they added to the 2019. I think that another two years with tweaks and then they could have done a complete redesign. Imagine the K2 gen for 2019/2020 having some of the features like a better safety belt in the middle upper console for anyone that sits there, the rear vents, blind spot detectors as a standard, rear tailgate automatically opening and closing, removing some of the plastics on the dashboard and going for a more leather like/stitched dash that the LTZ/High Country have just to name a few of the things that all they had to do.

Then from mechanical stand point add in the 10 speed trans, add a better set of struts since a lot of people complain about the Ranchos, also maybe test out making certain parts of the truck a bit lighter, while still keeping similar aesthetics. That front end on the 2019's only looks good IMO in black based on the colors that we have seen so far.

I have always liked Edmunds.  Based on their review in this video my first choice would still be GM.  I believe GM retains more of a distance between cars and trucks.  Silverado ranked first in loading and last in interior luxury.  The differences in all of their tests on all three trucks were minimal but enough to create a ranking based on their criteria.  As suggested earlier there isn't enough to sway the brand loyal and I believe price will be the greatest influence on new truck buyers.

Is there any real price difference between similar levels of trucks between the big 3 (even throw in the tundra if you want)? I haven't shopped around, but from the little info I have seen, all the full size truck prices are pretty close. But I knew I wanted a chevy so I didn't even price out a ford or ram when I bough mine.

I think most people shop with their eyes first. If somebody likes the looks of one over the other, a few hundred $ isn't going to sway them on a new truck. I think brand loyalty is huge. The manufacturers are just trying to be flashy to attract those few "undecided voters".

It's hard to compare sometimes, because pricing changes so much month to month, as the discounts / incentives change.

Im not sure I agree with the review but its pretty brutal to have Chevy's brand new truck get stepped on just as they are hitting the lots...

Take aways from the review:

Truck is exterior is polarizing - Thats obvious but I dont agree the truck looks the same as the last generation with the exception of the  front. Did they actually walk around the truck?

Power train - They seem to like the Ford and they fail to address the Dodges engine/tran combo being older. I dont know how an honest reviewer doesnt give Chevy the strong win in this area. Yes Chevys powertrains are carry overs but Ieven with a carry over they are better. Gearing sucks for Chevy but that doesnt mean the engines arent better than the other two.

Interior - There is no doubt Dodge is in first. Its hard to deny, in my opinion, the Silverado shouldnt come in second. It isnt revolutionary but its definitely miles ahead of the Ford. I sat in the Ford the other day and it just feels like a kids plastic peg pergeo toy electric car.  (Im not a Ford hater)

Bed - They didnt give Chevy near enough credit for the new bed

Trailering - They didnt give Chevy near enough credit for the tech and trailering improvements.

The review is from an initial perspective and not a long term usability and durability perspective. I understand its difficult if not impossible for them to discuss anything outside of driving them off of the show room. Where Chevy shines to me is durability. I've known too many people with Ecoboost issues and Ram quality. I will sacrifice a little bit when it comes to the positives they pointed out for Ram and Ford to stay on the road and out of the shop.  I really do feel the Ram is on a completely different level., however..Too bad their quality isnt on the same par.

Yes Captain....  all of this added to our K2's would have been nice and probably a step above current RAM and Ford trucks...  but GM is notorious for playing it safe

and catching up to the others in technology. Until they break the Mold with something so radical and industry leading, I suspect they will always come in Last in terms of professional review.

I agree.  We all have our biases that come into play.   I think all three are visually appealing however it would take more than a few hundred dollars to get me out of the GM fan club!  However, the cost of moving me to a Ford would be a lot less than moving me to a Fiat!

Yeah, its very hard to compare. I think they do it on purpose. I know the advertised prices change monthly, but once you cut through all the gimmicks, I think the actual out the door costs remains near the baseline +/- $1000. They don't want you to be able to see the actual cost of their truck compared to the other dealer across the street. They want you to come in and interact with a salesman so he can close the deal.

So you can try to convince me or other GM members about the 2019 Silverado not having a familiar look to its heritage?

Not trying to start an argument guys!   To each their own and bless all of us for being able to express our opinions.

But I think the proof is in the pudding especially compared to the Cat Eye 03-06 Silverado

I personally think the cat eye 03-07 is one of the ugliest generations GM has produced. I've come to the realization that the square bodies age more gracefully and withstand the test of time better than bubbly and curvey (at least on trucks.)

Take for example, these 4 past generations of GM and Ford. In both instances, the square bodies look less dated when in fact they are actually even the older generation. I think this will be the case with the K2 and T1. I think the T1 will look outdated soon after it's phased out and the K2 will maintain a classic look.

I am sure you all remember when the 1994 Dodge Ram trucks were introduced.

They were not received well either :shakehead:

Maybe the INITIAL unveiling... this redesign was completely groundbreaking and revolutionary for dodge. The big rig style front fenders were raved about as far as i remember. This truck put dodge on the map and and like tripled their sales to i believe about 400k...

I was just about to say, I'm not sure if he being sarcastic or something? The 2nd gen Dodge Ram was hugely popular from the get go and very well received. That generation is what really put Dodge/Ram on the map in the segment and why they are not a has been.
