A Look Underneath T1...

The more I look at the info and your great write-up on these, the more I have faith/hope in GM actually making strides over our K2 designs.

Sure, the new interiors were not updated to "RAM" standards.... but at least there is an aluminum skid plate from the factory finally!  LOL

Man, they musta hired extra people just to put paint pen marks on everything to make us think stuff had been inspected!  :D

These marks remind me of Graveyard Cars TV show, when they restore all the Mopar vehicles!  LOL

Every nut, bolt and part on them has some sort of mark.

With anything new, especially a total rework such as T1, I'm sure there will be growing pains.  GM claims they put way more R&D into T1 than any truck before it.  We shall see.  I was snooping around it last night before I left.  If there is any meh on interior trim, its the console sides and some of the upper most dash.

the Meh for me would have to be the Gauge Cluster. Just something about the background or Font style of the lettering is less than impressive.

My SLT cluster looks Denali Like compared to the T1 cluster. Just my humble opinion.

Even the T1 Denali and High Country have a boring cluster.

Probably because of the beefed up starter since the auto start/stop is on them.

Some good info in the GM Upfitter manual:  https://www.gmupfitter.com/files/media/photo/962/2019_R4B_NG_LD_FS_CK_PU_072018.pdf

22 gallon tank on the diesel trucks, 5.3 gallon DEF tank.  DEF tank goes on the passenger side across from the fuel tank.  Diesel shows as double and crew configs only (figures).  They even shrunk the long box tank on the RCLB from 34 gallons to 28 gallons (wtf).  I'm starting to see where they cut weight from...1 gallon of gas = 6.2lbs...24lbs lost on the standard box tank, 36lbs on long box.

Also, the max tire width stock is 286mm-291mm...

Weight is weight i suppose, fuel and all.

And the hood release lever is now plastic.

I wonder if trucks will someday have aluminum frames?

Motocross bikes adoptedmthem in the early 2000s, now it is an industry standard.

Next we go under.  Front suspension, rear brake assembly.  Very much a 8/8 scale Colorado underneath.  Which is good because the 2015+up Colorado has a really nice frame underneath it.

How similar is frame to k2xx? I know GM moved front and rear wheels further out towards the front and rear but besides that similar to Current k2xx or drastically different? A side by side pic would be nice.

I assume the breakover over angle is worse but approach and departure angles similar or better than k2xx?
