I think he saw 1 magazine did 5.8 and he thinks every k2xx does 5.8 every time, no matter what.  This truck has 22s, no word on elevation, humidity, temp, it's not even fully broke in.  Traction off? 8 speed vs 10 isn't the difference and I'm not sure there are more shifts to 60.

So far all the reviewer's said they accelerated better and gm says around .5 seconds faster to 60.  I have no reason to doubt it.

Car and driver did a review on the Denali with the 10 speed auto. It was a tad slower to 60. They summarize transmission tuning and too many shifts to 60.

There are no extra shifts with the 10 speed on a 0-60 run. Both the 8L90 and 10L90 shift into 3rd on a 0-60 run at almost the exact same speed. Right between 57-59 mph. The difference is negligible. 4th-5th-6th is really where the closer ratios of the 10 speed will shine. From 60-100 mph.

        8L90   10L90

1st   4.56     4.70

2nd  2.97     2.99

3rd   2.08     2.15

4th   1.69     1.80

5th   1.27     1.52

6th   1.00     1.28

7th     .85     1.00

8th     .65       .85

9th                 .69

10th               .64

Check out the top end punch on this Tahoe RST with the 10 speed. Now this thing is cookin.

Here’s my ‘14 tune only. I can hit about 4.9 if I launch it properly.

I don’t think a tune is knocking off over a second on an NA car.

What I want that guy to do is launch in 4auto with the traction control off

This is amazing, a guy asked a question I answered about an article I just read. Doesn’t matter to me I don’t own one and wouldn’t spill my milk over a couple tenths if I did. There’re pretty quick for their size. I saw a truck comparison of full sized trucks. They had both GM trucks outfit the same. They had different times to 60, it happens all the time.

Damn, that's fast for a Tahoe!  I think the primary performance advantage if the 10 speed over the 6 is with the small steps in gears it should always be in or close to it's sweet spot.  0-60, 1/4 mile and such shouldn't change due to the transmission only but it will offer better real world performance, like passing power.

From watching the linked videos...

6-speed auto is in 2nd at 60mph and shifts to 3rd at 65 - 68

8-speed auto is in 3rd at 60mph

10-speed auto is in 3rd at 60mph

That was my exact thought!

Anyone know if the 10 speed skips gears?

Don’t own a 10 speed but I’ve read that it’s designed to skip gears if it’s most efficient to do so.

Still waiting for the Day GM has to balls to decide to put its supercharged engine in the trucks. Killing me that Ford and Dodge are thinking outside the box with trucks (Raptor, Durango SRT, Cherokee SRT, Ram Rebel TRX) while GM easily can offer a trim level with such.

Agreed. Man, could you imagine the supercharged LT4 in a crew cab half ton with 650/650.. drool.

Imagine this, 2019 Corvette;

“When it hits the streets next spring, everyone is going to see and hear it coming, and every Corvette and Chevy fan boy will be able to recite these numbers: 755 horses and 715 lb-ft of torque from its supercharged, 6.2-liter LT5 V-8 engine, with a top speed in excess of 210 mph. There are no 0-60 mph or quarter mile claims yet, but expect mid to high twos to 60 and mid 10s in the quarter”.

You can get that from a Ford dealership with warranty.  It's through a  Rousch supercharger.  My favorite would be a reg cab short bed  2wd.  There is a Ford dealer not too far from me that happens to have four of them, selling for about 46k.   I just can't afford a toy like that.  Other ford dealerships sell crew cab half ton trucks lifted and/or lowered.  Now I'm not a huge Ford fan but...
