Disappointed with 2019

Recommended Posts

I hope that GM corrects their blunders on the 1500s for the 2500s coming next year. Adaptive cruise, rain sense wipers, signals in the side mirrors, all of which have been on the GM suv's since 2015. I'd almost bet that sales of these new trucks will be flat, if not less than the 2014-2018 run. Leave it to GM to lay down a bunt when they needed a home run.

I've not closely examined the interior in person, but from pictures and reduction of listed features and options, I'm not overly impressed in the 1500s.

I don't understand why they eliminated those features either.  It isn't like they had to invest in the technology.  Not like it is weight savings either.  When you start paying over 50k for a vehicle it is supposed to have the extra bells and whistles. Not less.  Just like the passenger side mirror doesn't self dim.  Lower models of other brands have that feature why not include it?

I can't be the only one to say it. The 2019s are so disappointing. And here's why for me, can anyone convince me otherwise?

1. No radar cruise control
2. Stop start garbage
3. No panoramic sunroof (not that I care, but I know most do)
4. All this R&D into dynamic fuel management and the mpg rating hasn't changed
5. Carbon fiber bed? Waste of R&D
6. You can't get the 6.2 or the 10 speed in the lower trimmed trucks
7. Gauge cluster actually looks worse than the outgoing model's (cheap but more feature laden)
8. No classic square arches
9. Looks way too overstyled, the "old" truck was a handsome beast
10. Still waxing frames after all these years
11. The box sides are now so tall that unless you're Yao Ming, you can't reach over the sides
12. The engine bay is now more cramped and for no reason, the radiators have been pushed back towards the engine and there's a brace on either side of the engine that encroach on the space around it

What exactly is the benefit of getting a new truck? As far as I can tell they made it worse. Think I'll be keeping my 17 for a long time!

Did they put in air rear vents?

My 2016 does have them, who does that make a truck with no rear vents.

YES on the Rear Air Vents.

However, they did take away the turn signals in the mirrors and also No Adjustable Pedals on higher trims.

Rob from Peter to pay Paul i guess......

Pushing the Radiator back to engine allowed the engineers to reduce the front overhang for visibility.

Even though the overall length of the trucks increased.

Overall, I think they have the right idea with this new model but the fact that they don't include the technology that they already use in their other models and to compete with their competitions offerings is baffling. The newage, suburban buyer will go for the panoramic roof and auto parking feature at the same price Chevy is selling theirs for. The new Chevy looks like the most truck-like truck on the market right now but it's not likely to gain them any market share without the gadgetry.

The GMC MultiPro Tailgate is "Gadgetry"

We truck owners have been surviving decades with a normal up down operation.

I have heard this "a better system is on the way" now several times in reference to GM and the 2019 T1 release.

It would have been easier if they had just waited to introduce T1 when it was fully equipped with the

"better system" whatever this may be.

Maybe they will have a "better interior" on the way also!

I never thought much of adaptive cruise until we rented a car this summer that had it.  It's truely an awesome option and I'm not one to get excited about having every option available.

Same here!

Man, I really like my 2015 and would like to upgrade to a 2019. I just can’t do the interior. The interior in these trucks is atrocious when you compare it to the new Ram. Might be awhile until I upgrade, the Ram reliability just isn’t there.

I'm with you 100%. I love the Chevy and GMC Sierra exterior styling especially the Denali but the interior has a lot of backwards steps to me. I will be sticking with my 2015 HD we will see what happens with that model in the coming years. Will they keep it contractor friendly or bring it back down to my 2012 level of looking like a Cadillac with small plasticky look instead?

I’m sure it’ll totally depend on their dealings with China.
