IO3 to IOB Radio Retrofit- EASY!

After surfing the forum and learning of others radio retrofits I decided to pull the trigger on an IOB retrofit kit for my 2015 regular cab GMC Sierra 1500 WT with an IO3. My requirements for the new radio were Bluetooth, Nav, Android Auto/Apple Carplay, and backup camera. MVI helped point me in the direction of the IOB radio since I wasnt concerned with having the 8" screen and NAV would come through Android Auto/Apple Carplay already.

 

Installation was a breeze and I had the entire radio and backup camera installed in less than 45 minutes. Everything works like it should except for Apple Carplay and that's only because I need a different USB port which MVI is shipping out to me as part of the retrofit kit.

 

The kit includes:

IOB Screen

IOB radio

Complete wire harness to install

Overhead Mic

New tailgate handle with camera

New USB port

 

Startup Screen

Standard AM/FM Screen

Google Maps through android auto

Google Play through android auto

So Android auto works, but Carplay does not?

Correct, but I am being sent a new USB port by MVI that replaces the old one and has Carplay compatability. For some reason the stock WT USB port can support Android Auto but not Carplay.
